We examine the empirical performance of using Fibonacci retracements as a tool in technical analysis, in three main equity markets. To this end, we propose a novel algorithmic approach that not only ...identifies Fibonacci Support and Resistance levels but also constructs zones around them, in an attempt to address the inherent subjectivity associated with drawing and assessing these levels on a chart. Among our main findings we report a positive relationship between the width of the Fibonacci zone and the probability of identifying a price bounce. We show that although this finding does not necessarily imply a profitable strategy, it may potentially explain why Fibonacci retracements are widely used by practitioners. Our novel algorithmic approach can also be used to rigorously assess other variations of Support and Resistance levels.
Abstract
As one of the early weapons used by the ancient Chinese military, the gravity-powered trebuchet is listed as a mandatory program in science and technology games in several provinces. Due to ...its entertaining and informative features, this program has received continuous attention and discussion from scholars. Currently, most of the studies on this program are empirical, and few studies have been conducted quantitatively based on theoretical models. Therefore, this study established a theoretical model of the trebuchet projection process from the perspective of system energy conservation and gave an accurate analytical expression of hitting target points. In order to verify the reliability of the theoretical model, experimental tests were conducted. The results showed that the experimental results were relatively consistent with the theoretical predictions. These findings could provide a new research idea for facilitating gravity-powered trebuchets to hit targets accurately.

Through the ...empirical analysis of the new pricing model, we draw the conclusion: the new pricing model reduces the cost of the task and increases the completion rate. It has a certain guiding significance for the development and management of the public crowdsourcing platforms.
Driven by growing interest across the sciences, a large number of empirical studies have been conducted in recent years of the structure of networks ranging from the Internet and the World Wide Web ...to biological networks and social networks. The data produced by these experiments are often rich and multimodal, yet at the same time they may contain substantial measurement error1–7. Accurate analysis and understanding of networked systems requires a way of estimating the true structure of networks from such rich but noisy data8–15. Here we describe a technique that allows us to make optimal estimates of network structure from complex data in arbitrary formats, including cases where there may be measurements of many different types, repeated observations, contradictory observations, annotations or metadata, or missing data. We give example applications to two different social networks, one derived from face-to-face interactions and one from self-reported friendships.
