Enhancing ESG performance has emerged as a crucial strategy for companies to bolster market value and competitiveness. However, this trend has sparked concerns about corporate greenwashing, where ...companies may selectively disclose ESG-related information to garner short-term benefits. Against this backdrop, using Chinese A-share listed companies from 2010 to 2022, we examine the impact of investor attention on corporate greenwashing. The findings reveal that investor attention significantly curbs corporate greenwashing. Mechanism analysis indicates that investor attention achieves this by alleviating corporate financing constraints and enhancing transparency in corporate information. Furthermore, moderating analysis suggests that enhancing internal controls and increasing environmental subsidies can strengthen the inhibitory effect of investor attention on corporate greenwashing. Finally, heterogeneity analysis demonstrates that the inhibitory effect of investor attention on corporate greenwashing is more pronounced in state-owned enterprises and companies facing high financing constraints. These findings not only contribute to the literature on investor attention but also offer insights for governing corporate greenwashing and advancing the dual-carbon goal.

O contemporâneo e interdisciplinar debate sobre a sustentabilidade tem refletido na atuação de muitas organizações, as quais passam a buscar posicionamento e atuação mais alinhada à questão ...socioambiental, trazendo à tona o fenômeno do greenwashing como prática polêmica e contestável de “lavagem verde” para suas marcas e ofertas. Este estudo objetivou explorar tal conceito e apresentar criticamente suas percepções frente à dicotomia “adaptação” ou “ameaça”. Foi empregada revisão sistemática da literatura baseada em buscas nas bases de dados Google Acadêmico, SciELO e Portal de Periódicos – Capes, junto à ferramenta “Connected Papers” e protocolo “Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool”. Os resultados aprofundam definições conceituais, categorias e interfaces do fenômeno com diversas áreas do conhecimento, como negócios, marketing, branding e ética - expandindo a compreensão do assunto além de campos específicos do saber e adicionam percepções relacionadas à uma prática enganosa e prejudicial em muitos aspectos, a qual deve ser evitada e desencorajada.
O avanço da ciência e da tecnologia trouxe mudanças significativas nos aspectos políticos, econômicos e sociaisna sociedade contemporânea. No entanto, nem todos os indivíduos têm a capacidade de ...compreender e acessar as informações disponíveis, excluindo-se, assim, da esfera dos sujeitos informacionais. Isso se torna preocupante, pois muitos desconhecem os interesses por trás das informações veiculadas, especialmente aqueles relacionados às classes dominantes no poder.Este artigo, resultado parcial de uma pesquisa de doutorado em andamento, tem como objetivo geral analisar as estratégias institucionalizadas de enfrentamento ao fenômeno social da desinformação,adotadas nos processos eleitorais. Quanto aos objetivos, é uma pesquisa descritiva, quanto aos meios, documental, e quanto à abordagem de avaliação é qualiquantitativa. Os resultados estão apontando que os usuários de informação valorizam mais a concordância das informações com seus ideais do que sua veracidade. Para lidar com esses problemas, as medidas adotadas têm sido a criação de legislações específicas e o desenvolvimento de ferramentas para determinar a autenticidade dos conteúdos. A criação de agências de checagem de fatos tem-se mostrado uma estratégia importante para combater a disseminação de notícias falsas. No entanto, o fenômeno da desinformação continua. Em vista disso, nossa pesquisa está investigando outras estratégias para mitigar a desinformação nas redes sociais on-line.

The current study examined various types of misinformation related to the COVID-19 vaccines and their relationships to vaccine hesitancy and refusal. Study 1 asked a sample of full-time ...working professionals in the US (

= 505) about possible misinformation they were exposed to related to the COVID-19 vaccines. Study 2 utilized an online survey to examine U.S. college students’ (
n
= 441) knowledge about COVID-19 vaccines, and its associations with vaccine hesitancy and behavioral intention to get a COVID-19 vaccine. Analysis of open-ended responses in Study 1 revealed that 57.6% reported being exposed to conspiratorial misinformation such as COVID-19 vaccines are harmful and dangerous. The results of a structural equation modeling analysis for Study 2 supported our hypotheses predicting a negative association between the knowledge level and vaccine hesitancy and between vaccine hesitancy and behavioral intention. Vaccine hesitancy mediated the relationship between the vaccine knowledge and behavioral intention. Findings across these studies suggest exposure to misinformation and believing it as true could increase vaccine hesitancy and reduce behavioral intention to get vaccinated.

In the age of online social platforms, increasing interactions beyond the wildest imagination, dealing with fake news has been the most challenging. Perhaps the most visible victims of fake news ...today are political individuals and institutions. The delicate balance between regulation and respect of individual rights and maintenance of constitutionalism in various countries today creates a unique regulatory dilemma that allows for fake news and the use of it to continue thriving. At the same time, politicians and other institutions occupy a critical role in creating legislation towards combatting fake news. Such moves could significantly undermine the ability to observe some of the fundamental rights of individuals and the overall rule of democracy 1. Misinformation and other cases of fake news have a relatively significant impact on societies. However, resolving fake news has proved not to be easy because of numerous issues, among them, being the need to preserve fundamental rights 2. Desktop-based research has been conducted to achieve the objectives of this research. Critical to note that most of the information vital in completing this research is electronically availed. Hence, secondary sources of information have been utilized to reach conclusions on the existence of regulations and its effectiveness toward combating fake news in the three jurisdictions.
The massive spread of false information on social media has become a global risk, implicitly influencing public opinion and threatening social/political development. False information detection (FID) ...has thus become a surging research topic in recent years. As a promising and rapidly developing research field, we find that much effort has been paid to new research problems and approaches of FID. Therefore, it is necessary to give a comprehensive review of the new research trends of FID. We first give a brief review of the literature history of FID, based on which we present several new research challenges and techniques of it, including early detection, detection by multimodal data fusion, and explanatory detection. We further investigate the extraction and usage of various crowd intelligence in FID, which paves a promising way to tackle FID challenges. Finally, we give our views on the open issues and future research directions of FID, such as model adaptivity/generality to new events, embracing of novel machine learning models, aggregation of crowd wisdom, adversarial attack and defense in detection models, and so on.
