Encounters with Kierkegaard is a collection of every
known eyewitness account of the great Danish thinker. Through many
sharp observations of family members, friends and acquaintances,
supporters and ...opponents, the life story of this elusive and
remarkable figure comes into focus, offering a rare portrait of
Kierkegaard the man. Often viewed by his contemporaries as a person
who deliberately cultivated an air of mystery and eccentricity,
Søren Kierkegaard (1813-1855) has been, then and now, a subject of
great speculation. His startling attack on the established church,
his broken engagement with a young woman from a respected family,
and his searing criticisms of literary figures--from the editors of
The Corsair to Hans Christian Andersen--are among the acts
that brought him much notoriety during his short lifetime. Yet
arriving at a sense of the philosopher's personality and motives
behind his behavior has been a difficult task. He left no memoirs
of autobiography, but in the enormous cannon of his published
writings, the author and the person Søren Kierkegaard is
problematically present in a welter of disguises. An indispensable
path to understanding what he was like as a person, maintains Bruce
Kirmmse, is through the observations of his contemporaries. These
accounts, ranging from the writings of Meïr Aron Goldschmidt,
editor of The Corsair , to the recollections of
Kierkegaard's fiancée, are organized around the major episodes of
the philosopher's life. They enable us to glimpse, among many
things, his spiritual and intellectual development, to get a sense
of what it was like to be the object of his friendship or his
wrath, and to examine various persons' opinions about his
relationship with his young fiancée. The memories of this woman,
Regine Olsen, who later married Fritz Schlegel, are among the most
moving passages: they reveal her profound suffering, her personal
understanding of Kierkegaard, and the satisfaction she ultimately
felt, knowing that "he took her with him into history." This
collection of first-hand accounts invites the reader to compare and
interpret a wealth of fascinating stories, and in the end forms an
intriguing "do-it-yourself" biography for both the scholar and
general reader.

Važnost glazbenog obrazovanja i glazbe u razvoju društva u cjelini nikada nije bila veća i značajnija
kao u vrijeme stare Grčke. Sukladno ciljevima tadašnjeg filozofskog obrazovanja, odgoj i ...obrazovanje

There is an evident trend of an increased use of and positive attitudes towards e-Education and distance learning within the Croatian higher education system. In this paper we examine students’ ...comprehension of certain meta-theoretical issues in e-Education, such as positivist, postmodern, and critical methodological approaches. Furthermore, we explore their attitudes concerning the main application approaches in educational technologies. We wish to ascertain the students’ expectations regarding new technologies involved in the educational process, the self-assessment of their own knowledge and inclinations towards the application of those technologies, the level of awareness regarding technology potentials and limitations, and the applicability for students with disabilities. In addition, we wish to check whether there is a reason to be hesitant, and also to examine the possible facets of resistance towards the implementation of such technologies. Considering the scope of e-Education application, we are to limit this paper to humanistic education, specifi cally, to teaching philosophy and Croatian language and literature.

The Urgency of Climate Change addresses a pivotal challenge for the sustainability of our planet. This topic was selected for the inaugural conference in 2015 of an annual series on the Integrity of ...Creation. The essays in this collection were selected in a peer-reviewed manner and appeal to a general audience. The chapters move from general to more specific points of view, with a discussion at the end of each section addressing the global impact of climate change. The first section sets the Context for the discussion, explaining that the climate is an indispensable common good. The part on Science emphasises that empirical reality must guide any analysis of the climate as a matter of basic knowledge and comprehension. A crucial implication is whether the climate is sufficiently robust for the Earth to flourish for millennia ahead, as discussed in the part on Sustainability. In turn, these sections raise pivotal questions, regarding Ethics about social obligations for the planet to flourish and regarding Religion to foster global stewardship. Finally, this alignment of Ethics and Religion around the problems related to Science and Sustainability leads to the final section on Law that considers policy possibilities to effectively engage Climate Change.
