The purpose of this study is to consider academics and students as actors in community development in a broad sense and to discuss the achievements and problems in fieldwork education. The study area ...is the Wara District in Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture. The author has been participating in activities toward developing a community development group of the Wara District since 2011. This has been achieved through workshops on the maintenance of rural settlements and inward migration and by collaborative research with students about the consciousness of migrants and the network of members in community development groups. Following on this, the author has been conducting laboratory workshops in the Wara District to enhance the knowledge and the motivation of local residents through a report of graduation theses about regional revitalization by students who studied the technique of fieldwork. According to the questionnaire conducted by the author's laboratory at the workshops, most participants highly appreciated the planning of the workshop and contents of the students' presentations. By promoting fieldwork education in the area where the academic researcher is constantly cooperating with the community to promote development, students can frequently visit the area. As a result, the students can obtain a detailed understanding of the area and develop a personal attachment to the location and its residents. This indicates that fieldwork education is more effective than just mastering research skills. In other words, through interaction with local residents and an experience of diverse activities, it is possible to cultivate human resources and spokespersons for regional development.
Due to the increase of the number of fresh university graduates year by year, and the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic and the economic situation at home and abroad, the employment situation of fresh ...university graduates has become more severe. Students have to face two problems at the same time: graduation thesis (design) and difficult employment. Therefore, this paper analyzes the contradiction between these two problems and puts forward countermeasures to solve this contradiction, which is helpful to improve the quality of undergraduate theses and increase the employment rate.
Cortisol secretion after awakening, an index of hypothalamus–pituitary–adrenal axis activity, appears to be related to psychosocial stressors, or to symptoms caused by psychosocial stressors. The ...relationship between the quality, duration, and magnitude of psychosocial factors and cortisol secretion is however, unclear. Therefore, the effect of episodic stress associated with writing a graduation thesis on cortisol secretion after awakening was investigated. Saliva samples were collected from 10 undergraduate students at awakening, and 30, 45, and 60 min after awakening 1 month, 2 weeks, and a few days before the thesis submission and 1 week after the submission. They also completed the Short form of Profile of Moods Scale (POMS-S) on the night before each sampling. Results indicated that cortisol levels were higher a few days before the thesis submission compared to 1 month before submission. Scores of “Fatigue” and “Tension-Anxiety” in POMS-S were also higher a few days before submission. These results suggest that episodic stress associated with writing a graduation thesis caused an increase in cortisol levels after awakening.
This study describes the achievements of a program that provides technology education about radiation to develop practical core engineers, then the effects of the programed were discussed. An ...education program starting at an early age and continuous and consistent educational agendas through seven years of college has been constructed in collaboration with regional organizations. Subjects relating to atomic energy or nuclear engineering were regrouped as “Subjects Related to Atomic Power Education” for most grades in each department. These subjects were included in the syllabus and the student guide book to emphasize a continuous and consistent policy throughout the seven-year period of college study, comprising the five-year system and the additional two-year advanced course. Furthermore, the content of lectures, experiments, and internships was enriched and realigned in collaboration with the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), Okayama University, and Chugoku Electric Power Co., Inc. Additional educational materials were developed from inspection visits by teaching staff to atomic energy facilities were also used in the classes. Two student experiment textbooks were developed to promote two of the subjects related to atomic energy: “Cloud Chamber Experiment” and “A Test of γ-ray Inverse Square Law.” In addition to the expansion and rearrangement of atomic power education, research on atomic power conducted for graduation thesis projects was undertaken to enhance educational and research activities. Some examples are as follows: “Study on the Relation between γ Dose Rate and Rainfall in Northern Okayama Area,” “Remote Sensing of Radiation Dose Rate by Customizing an Autonomous Robot,” and “Nuclear Reaction Analysis for Composition Measurement of BN Thin Films.” It should be noted that an atomic-energy-related education working group has been in place officially to continue the above activities in the college since 2011. In consequence, although government subsidy has been decreasing, both human and material resources have been enhanced, and many students with a satisfactory understanding of atomic energy are being developed.
This paper describes the achievements of a program in which technology education is provided to cultivate practical core engineers for low-level radiation. It was made possible by means of (1) an ...introductory education program starting at an early age and a continuous agenda throughout college days and (2) regional collaboration. First, with regard to the early-age introductory education program and the continuous education agenda, the subjects of study related to atomic energy or nuclear engineering were reorganized as “Subjects related to Atomic Power Education” for all grades in all departments. These subjects were included in the syllabus and the student guide book, emphasizing a continuous and consistent policy throughout seven-year college study, including the five-year system and additional two-year advanced course. Second, to promote practical education, the contents of lectures, experiments, and internships were enriched and realigned in collaboration with the Japan Atomic Energy Agency, Okayama University and The Cyugoku Electric Power Co., Inc. In addition to the expansion and rearrangement of atomic power education, research on atomic power conducted for graduation thesis projects were undertaken to enhance the educational and research activities. In consequence, it has been estimated that there is now a total of fourteen subject areas in atomic energy technology, more than eight-hundred registered students in the department, and thirteen members of the teaching staff related to atomic energy technology. Furthermore, the “Tsuyama model” is still being developed. This program was funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
Aiming at the problems of complicated formats in graduation thesis writing, a smart graduation thesis format parsing and generation model is proposed. First, a model is built based on the features of ...the thesis templates analyzed and extracted. Then templates are generated automatically according to user preferences. Finally, content of the thesis is incorporated into the specified template. Experiment shows that it can automatically generate format information according to the templates without human intervention, which could save a lot of time and reduce format errors.
Many factors affect the quality of the graduation thesis. Taking universities in Yunnan as an example, this paper builds on the actual situation of the quality of undergraduate graduation thesis of ...economics and management, combined with the existing research results, and constructs a structural equation model of factors affecting the quality of undergraduate graduation thesis of economics and management. The path coefficients of various impact factors are obtained, and then the countermeasures for improving the quality of undergraduate graduation thesis in economics and management are proposed. The research results can not only provide the decision-making basis for the relevant policies for universities to regulate the quality of graduation thesis in economics and management, but also provide a basis for evaluating the quality of graduation thesis in economics and management Route selection prompt direction.
