    滋賀県南部に位置する桐生水文試験地において,流域から流出する溶存有機態炭素(DOC)の動態を明らかにすることを目的とし,流域の水文過程に沿って林外雨,林内雨,土壌溶液,地下水,渓流水のDOC濃度,紫外吸光度を測定した。DOC濃度,紫外吸光度:DOC濃度比,共にどのプロットにおいても深部ほど低く,DOC濃度が,DOCの質の変化を伴いながら減少していく傾向が示された。DOC濃度が急減する表層土壌層とDOC濃度が緩やかに減少する下層土壌層とでは,異なるDOC濃度減少メカニズムが働いていると仮定し,それぞれにおいてDOC濃度減少メカニズムを検討した。表層土壌層でのDOC濃度減少には,AI,Fe濃度とDOC濃度との関係よりAl,Feとの有機錯体形成が寄与している可能性が示された。表層土壌層通過後,土壌のDOC吸着効率が表層土壌層と同じであるにもかかわらずDOC濃度が変動しないことから,吸着されやすいDOC画分が表層土壌層でおおむね吸着され尽くしていると考えられた。このことから,下層土壌層では,微生物分解反応が主なDOC濃度減少メカニズムであると推定された。また,飽和地下水帯,および渓流水でDOC濃度の変動が見られなかったことから,基底流出時に森林流域から流出するDOC濃度は,ほぼ飽和地下水帯に到るまでの浸透過程で決定されると考えられた。
