As the global population continues to age, the need for care of chronic urologic conditions will increase. Role expansion represents the capacity of nurses to stand among their global nursing peer ...group as expert nurses, with the opportunity to contribute to the care of their country's citizens, a position strongly advocated for nurses by the World Health Organization (WHO). Expanding the role of nurses can contribute to national goals for care to shift to the outpatient arena. This article offers evidence that there is support for nursing role expansion within urology clinical environments.
Theories from occupational wellbeing posit that more satisfied workers perform better in their jobs. We tested this hypothesis by applying regression analyses to TALIS video study data (17,554 ...pupils; 670 teachers), exploring the association between teacher job satisfaction and lesson quality as judged from multiple perspectives. While more satisfied teachers tend to rate the quality of their lessons more highly, the relationship is much weaker when using pupil reports and those of expert observers. There is no evidence that teacher job satisfaction is related to pupil outcomes. Policymakers should focus instead on the importance of job satisfaction for teacher retention.

Para llenar un vacío en instrumentos de satisfacción laboral, se adaptó la Escala General de Satisfacción Laboral con muestra de 1309 trabajadores, un estudio encuesta con dos oleadas de recolección. En la primera muestra de 709 trabajadores, exploró la estructura interna y la precisión mediante procedimientos factoriales exploratorios. La segunda muestra de 600, se reevaluó la estructura unidimensional mediante procedimientos factoriales confirmatorios e invariancia configuracional, métrica y escalar de clase social subjetiva (alta y baja), género (hombre y mujer) y naturaleza del trabajo (formal y informal y fuera del mercado formal). Los resultados mostraron buenas propiedades psicométricas, invariancia y adaptación para diferentes trabajadores.
Job satisfaction is important for employee well-being and retention, which are both crucial for high-strained occupations such as teachers and school principals. We investigated the structure and ...relationship of teachers' job satisfaction (N = 142,280) and principals' job satisfaction (N = 8,869). Results of structural equation modeling using multilevel bifactor models provide strong evidence for the validity of a model including both specific (satisfaction with the profession vs. the working environment) and general job satisfaction factors. This differential conception of job satisfaction was further tested by including the student variables disciplinary climate and student achievement from linked TALIS 2013-PISA 2012 data. Only teacher job satisfaction factors (general and working environment) were related to the disciplinary climate perceived by students, whereas the working environment job satisfaction factor was related to student achievement for both teachers and principals. Controlling for socioeconomic status reduced these estimates, but did not change the pattern of results.
Educational Impact and Implications Statement
High teacher and principal job satisfaction is associated with well-being, lower attrition, and better student outcomes. We investigated whether different aspects of job satisfaction of teachers and their principals are related to each other, to student achievement, and to disciplinary climate perceived by students. Results based on a very large representative sample revealed that job satisfaction with the working environment of both teachers and their principals is high when student achievement is high. The school's disciplinary climate was only related to satisfaction of teachers. These findings show how students, teachers, and principals influence each other and highlight the importance of targeting interventions and policies at the whole school.
IntroductionIn ordinary circumstances, the employed individuals demonstrate significant levels of psychological distress and presenteeism, a situation that has been further intensified by the ...COVID-19 epidemic. Furthermore, a limited number of studies have examined the phenomenon of presenteeism in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, therefore necessitating the undertaking of the present study.ObjectivesThe goal of this study was to investigate the levels of presenteeism and its related characteristics, as well as job satisfaction and psychological distress, among a sample of employees employed at a Private Social Solidarity Institution (IPSS) in Portugal.MethodsA cross-sectional survey was undertaken in 2022 to observe personnel from an IPSS located in the central area of Portugal. The research had a sample size of 71 workers who were provided with a signed authorization. The survey was designed to gather both general and professional information from participants. Additionally, it included the Stanford Presenteeism Scale (SPS-6), the Job Satisfaction Questionnaire (S20/23), and the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10) as measurement tools.ResultsThe occurrence of presenteeism was seen in 32 employees, accounting for 45.1% of the sample, whereas illness absence was reported by 38 workers, representing 54.3% of the sample. The majority of the individual assessments for S20/23 demonstrated a higher degree of satisfaction (mean ≥ 4.5 points.), with the exception of the salary-related issue, which elicited a higher level of discontent (mean = 3.36 ± 1.9 pts.). Approximately 50.7% of the individuals had a high or very high susceptibility to experiencing or developing a mental condition. The correlation matrix revealed a statistically significant moderate positive association between presenteeism and work satisfaction, as well as a statistically significant moderate negative link between presenteeism and psychological distress (p<0.01). The associated factors of presenteeism were found to be marital status, quality of sleep, illness absenteeism, health perception, and psychological distress. The combined effect of these predictors was shown to account for 35.8% of the variance in presenteeism.ConclusionsIt is expected that the outcomes of our research will stimulate more investigations into the tangible implications of presenteeism in promoting improved health and well-being within the workplace.Disclosure of InterestNone Declared
IntroductionMental health is a critical factor influencing employee well-being and performance in companies. However, many factors within professional environments can either positively or negatively ...impact employees’ psychological well-being.ObjectivesThis study aims to assess mental health among workers in a confectionery factory and its association with job satisfaction.MethodsWe conducted a cross-sectional study among workers in a private confectionery in Sfax. Questionnaires and workplace assessments were collected over a period from December 2022 to July 2023 using a pre-established questionnaire. Mental health assessment was performed using the 21-item Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Questionnaire (DASS21). The degree of job satisfaction was assessed using a visual analog scale ranging from 0 to 10.ResultsOur study included 200 participants, with 61% being female. Severe to very severe symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress were found in 4.5%, 17%, and 10.5% of our participants, respectively. Among our workers, 22.5% reported being not very satisfied or not satisfied. Bivariate analysis revealed lower levels of satisfaction among the most anxious (p = 0.000), the most depressed (p = 0.000), and the most stressed (p = 0.000) workers.ConclusionsThe decline in mental health is closely linked to job dissatisfaction. Some 75% of people who aren't happy with their level of flexibility said they will look for new jobs, according to Future Forum research. A company driven by measuring outcomes instead of monitoring employees will allow for flexibility about where and even when people work. Most people want some time together with their teams and some time at home. Teams that figure out a regular rhythm that works for them perform best.
