The thesis of this paper is that, despite its substantial accomplishments over the past 40 years as a professional practice, knowledge management (KM) has yet to mature as an intellectual discipline. ...The goal of this conceptual paper is to accelerate this maturation by generalizing KM. The paper does so by identifying KM’s generic social phenomena and how these phenomena can be better understood through the development of theory oriented around knowledge that defines, predicts, and explains them. KM theory is examined through an extensive review of the existing literature. Four levels of organizational KM are offered, including two that examine an organization’s basis (resources) and essence (ideas and actions), while the second two build upon these to examine resource management in general, and the management of knowledge resources specifically. Treating KM as a theoretical object will lead to greater understanding of KM. This enriched understanding will lead to a more effective performance of KM. The achievement of this paper’s goal (i.e., generalizing KM) will facilitate the maturation of KM into a discipline and practice that consistently contributes to organizational effectiveness. Little KM literature exists on the conceptualization of knowledge as a theoretical object, which offers the opportunity not only to develop theory that defines, predicts, and explains KM within organizations more systematically but also ultimately to understand better the ways in which KM contributes to individual happiness, community cohesion, and social prosperity.
The extant research investigating the relationship between knowledge management (KM) strategies and organizational performance has yielded inconclusive results. Our paper revisits this research ...problem by drawing on complementarity theory from Economics. The empirical segment of our work is based on data on KM strategies and organizational performance from a sample of 131 Korean firms. Our results suggest three types of relationship among KM strategies: non-complementarity, and non-critical symmetric complementarity, and asymmetric complementarity. Integrating explicit-oriented with tacit-oriented KM strategies showed non-complementarity, which suggests a drag on obtaining higher levels of organizational performance. Our analysis of KM strategies based on KM source shows that companies could benefit from KM by implementing external-oriented or internal-oriented strategy. Combining the tacit-internal-oriented and explicit-external-oriented KM strategies indicates a complementarity relationship, which implies synergistic effects of KM strategies on performance.
Purpose
Enhancing green innovation for corporate sustainability is one of the recent issues globally. Knowledge management has been determined as a core factor that hamstrings green innovation. The ...existing literature was limited to expose the importance of the knowledge management process for corporate sustainable performance. Thus, this paper aims to examine the role of the knowledge management process for corporate sustainable performance with the integration of green innovation and organizational agility following the resource-based view theory.
Design/methodology/approach
Cross-sectional design was used in this study. Data were gathered through convenience sampling from 475 respondents of multinational manufacturing corporations of Pakistan, analyzed by using structural equation modeling.
Findings
This study revealed that the knowledge management process and its all constructs (acquisition, dissemination and application) lead toward green innovation; further, green innovation influences corporate sustainable performance and its all constructs (environment, economic and social). Green innovation partially mediates the association between the knowledge management process and corporate sustainable performance. Besides, organizational agility has a positive effect on green innovation and corporate sustainable performance but was not found moderating these relations. The study educates that organizations investing in innovative technologies and adopting greener strategies are not only adequate for achieving sustainable performance, soft issues such as knowledge management and organizational agility but also important factors in the current knowledge base economy.
Originality/value
This study is an attempt to examine the previously undiscovered multi-dimensional relationships among the knowledge management process, green innovation, organizational agility and corporate sustainable performance. The presence of a positive correlation among these constructs was observed, proving the conceptual framework for this study.

The Internet of Things (IoT) global arena is massive and growing exponentially. Those in the emerging digital world have recently witnessed the proliferation and impact of IoT-enabled devices. The IoT has provided new opportunities in the technology arena while bringing several challenges to an increased level of concern. This research has both practical and theoretical impetus since IoT is still in its infancy, and yet it is considered by many as the most important technology initiative of today. This study includes a systematic review and synthesis of IoT related literature and the development of a theoretical framework and conceptual model. The review of the literature reveals that the number of applications that make use of the IoT has increased dramatically and spans areas from business and manufacturing to home, health care, and knowledge management. Although IoT can create invaluable data in every industry, it does not occur without its challenges. The theoretical framework developed identifies IoT priority areas and challenges, providing a guide for those leading IoT initiatives and revealing opportunities for future IoT research.

Academics and practitioners alike have recently gravitated toward exploring how knowledge acquisition activities might improve business outcomes. To address this growing research interest, this study investigates the critical roles of green knowledge acquisition in enhancing green knowledge management and green technology innovation activities in improving corporate environmental performance, positioning resource commitment as a moderator. The research model has been assessed using structural equation modeling with survey data from 283 Indian manufacturers, demonstrating that green knowledge acquisition significantly impacts green knowledge management and green technology innovation. The statistical findings also show that green technology innovation acts catalyzes the translation of green knowledge management into improved corporate environmental performance. The results demonstrate that resource commitment moderates green knowledge acquisition's interaction with green knowledge management and green technology innovation, providing practical insights enabling managers to focus on planning, allocating, and budgeting resources for effective green practices that can contribute to improving corporate environmental performance.

Sourcing and leveraging knowledge from an external network is only half the battle for firms that would become more successful. In fact, the mere access and acquisition of the knowledge itself ...through embedded ties does not secure to perform exploration and exploitation activities, and consequently, to achieve better performance because knowledge has to be managed. Firms' knowledge management (KM) orientation may help in the process of knowledge acquisition, sharing, and transfer, consequently, improving firms' ambidexterity and competitiveness. Thus, this paper proposes that the KM plays a key role in determining the outcomes of firm's external embeddedness, i.e., the characteristics and ties of the external network, on the ambidexterity and performances of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). An empirical analysis has been developed by using structural equations modeling with data collected from CEOs in 119 Italian SMEs in the ceramic tile industry. Findings show that the KM plays a significant role in mediating the effects of the external embeddedness on the firm's ambidexterity that in turn enhances the performances of Italian SMEs in our sample. Based on our results, implications for academics and managers and future line of research are proposed.
The movement towards knowledge-based management and administration in today's world and achieving competitive excellence in organizations has made knowledge sharing an important issue. In other ...words, the lack of knowledge sharing in the organization leads to inefficiency in organizational knowledge management. The purpose of this study is to explain and localize the effective cultural components in knowledge sharing in order to provide solutions for knowledge sharing improvement. The present study seeks to extract the cultural components effective in knowledge sharing by using structural equation modeling. For this purpose, by reviewing the research literature, effective cultural components in knowledge sharing in the form of 8 components are identified. Then, based on the identified components, a researcher-made questionnaire is designed in the form of 36 items. The statistical population of this study includes all the officials of a government organization comprising of 75 personnel, utilizing the counting method due to the limitation of the population. The research method of this descriptive-survey research using structural equation modeling with Smart Pls software and measurement tool is a five-choice questionnaire based on Likert scale. Cronbach's alpha and combined reliability (CR) are used to evaluate the reliability of the data collection tool, whilst in addition to face validity, the AVE tool is used to evaluate the validity. The results of the analysis of the research findings show that among the identified cultural components, the components of trust, organizational communication, commitment, participation and cooperation and teamwork, reward and encouragement and support have the most positive impact in descending order on the employee knowledge sharing. of course, three other cultural components (leadership and learning and enrichment) which are certainly influential in knowledge sharing have not become significant in this study.
The trend of increasing importance and impact of knowledge in defense organizations is undeniable. In this regard, in order to manage knowledge and its acquisition and creation in defense ...organizations, it is necessary to pay full and comprehensive attention to the issue of knowledge social computing. Knowledge social computing is a branch of knowledge management literature that is a kind of development of intellectual capital, software and hardware that is used with the necessary conditions to exchange or combine a concept or category. The purpose of this study is to design a pattern of knowledge social computing in the defense organizations of the Islamic Republic of Iran based on the values of the school of pure Islam, which extracts key and important points. Relevant codes have been extracted through the study of sources such as the Holy Quran, hadiths, Islamic texts and the orders of the Imams of the Islamic Revolution, from the perspective of beneficial science and by reviewing interviews with the defense industry experts. The research approach is a mixed method with a partially mixed sequential dominant status design. In this research, three methods of "domain review-Grounded theory-survey" have been used. First, qualitative and then quantitative data have been collected and analyzed. In the qualitative phase, first the internal and external sources related to the domain review method have been extracted and then while reviewing the relevant archival sources, an interview has been conducted with defense experts and then using the qualitative method of the Grounded Theory, 298 indicators, 32 concepts, 14 components and 8 dimensions have been extracted. In the quantitative phase, a questionnaire has been used to collect data, and the seven-point Likert scale has been used for assessment. To confirm the components of the framework and explain their relationships, the survey method has been used. The results show that the two dimensions of power and scientific independence and indigenous facilities and capacities are the most related ones to the social computing of knowledge in defense organizations. One of the important results of this research is the essential role of knowledge social computing, which can document most of the knowledge assets of defense organizations that are produced by individuals during the work processes, and the process of absorbing, acquiring and creating knowledge to the point of scientific demarcation.
Knowledge management (KM) creates a collaborative environment that contributes to the improvements in the supply chain. It guarantees the access of members to external knowledge and the overall ...supply chain improvement in the competitive environment. The steel industry is considered as the second ‘key’ and ‘strategic’ industry after the oil and petrochemical industry in Iran. Implementing knowledge management in supply chains causes many costs due to some challenges. This study aims at selecting and ranking the KM challenges and solutions in order to apply them for improvement in the supply chain overall performance. First, the experts are asked to name and shortlist the challenges and solutions for the supply chain KM. The mentioned experts include 14 KM departments managers in the steel industry supply chain (Foolad Mobarakeh Complex, Ghaltaksazan Sepahan, Iran National Copper Company, Iran National Steel Company, Iran Alloy Steel Company and Isfahan Alloy Steel Company), KM consultants and KM professors. In order to identify the internal relationships among variables, the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory-DEMATEL is adopted. Afterwards, best-worst method (BWM) is utilized for weighting the challenges. Finally, complex proportional assessment (COPRAS) is used to rank the solutions to handle challenges. Matlab and Excel are used to analyze the results which are also verified in the steel industry supply chain. The findings indicated that lack of leaders’ commitment towards KM, having a system of encouragement and reprimand for knowledge sharing and differences in the interests, values and culture of supply chain members are the most important challenges. Positive leadership towards KM, setting up incentives and reward systems for KM and strengthening the culture of cooperation in the chain are the highest rank solutions for removing the challenges or reducing their negative impacts.
