Der soziale, kulturelle und politische Prozess der Digitalisierung hat neue Gemeinschafts- und Bildungsformen denkbar werden lassen, die u.a. durch drei Szenen entscheidend geprägt wurden: die ...kybernetisch-künstlerischen Hintergründe der PC-Kultur als Basis des Silicon Valley, die Popularisierung des Internets in den 1990er Jahren und aktuelle Entwicklungen, die unter dem Begriff des digitalen Nomadentums gefasst werden. Martin Donner und Heidrun Allert fragen vor dem Hintergrund der damit verbundenen Verschiebungen der Gemeinschaftsverständnisse nach praxistauglichen Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten der digitalen Gesellschaft.
In diesem Open-Access-Buch wird ausgehend vom aktuellen Forschungsdiskurs der didaktische Einsatz von Erklärvideos im Sachunterricht untersucht. Der Sachunterricht stellt aufgrund seines umfassenden ...Bildungsauftrags ein herausforderndes Betätigungsfeld für Lehrkräfte dar. Das audiovisuelle Medienformat Erklärvideo kommt dabei zunehmend zur Anwendung. Anhand einer explorativen qualitativ-empirischen Studie mit österreichischen und deutschen Grundschullehrkräften wird ein Rahmenmodell zum Erklärvideoeinsatz im Sachunterricht entwickelt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass sowohl die Schulschließungen im Zuge der Coronapandemie als auch der individuelle Umgang mit dem Bildungsauftrag des Sachunterrichts Motive für den Einsatz von Erklärvideos darstellen. Es werden Vorgehensweisen bei der Auswahl bzw. Gestaltung von Erklärvideos sowie didaktische Zielsetzungen und situationsspezifische Umgangsformen mit dem Medium identifiziert. Einflussfaktoren für die Nutzung von Erklärvideos sind die Verfügbarkeit passender Angebote, die technische Ausstattung sowie personenbezogene Faktoren wie persönliches Interesse und Medienkompetenz. Qualitätsvolle Erklärvideos im Sachunterricht können bei zweckmäßigem Einsatz als geeignete Bildungsressourcen für die Lernenden und als didaktisches Werkzeug für die Lehrenden betrachtet werden. Due to its comprehensive educational mission, the primary school subject General Studies represents a challenging field of activity for teachers. Above all, the selection and the use of suitable teaching media play an essential role in lesson playing and design. In this context, explainer videos are increasingly used. Based on the current research discourse on explainer videos, the present study examines the use of this didactic tool in General Studies. Accordingly, in an explorative qualitative-empirical study, interviews about various aspects of the use of explainer videos were conducted with Austrian and German primary school teachers and analyzed using grounded theory methodology. The iterative research process yielded a framework model for the use of explainer videos in General Studies. The results show that both the school closures during the Corona pandemic and the teachers' individual approaches towards the educational purpose of the subject itself represent motives for the use of explainer videos. Approaches to the selection and design of explainer videos, different didactic objectives and situation-specific ways of dealing with the medium could be identified. The availability of suitable offers, the technical equipment in the classroom as well as personal factors such as interest in the technology and personal media competence emerged as the factors influencing the use of explainer videos. The teachers perceived an increased activation of the learners and an expansion of their own didactic scope as the consequences of the use of explainer videos in General Studies lessons. In the evaluation of the audiovisual teaching medium, high-quality explainer videos can be regarded as a suitable educational resource for the learners and as a didactic tool for the teachers if they are used in a well-considered way. The article shows the results of a situational analysis of a case study with the elements of an experiment to find out the expediency of mobile application use in media education. The case study is ...aimed at researching the process of mobile learning within a single social object - a group of 32 students, members of the workshop "Young Journalists", aged 8-14. We used a beta version of the application, which is now about to go into open access on the platform GooglePlay. In the course of development, the function was tested involving the focus group. According to the testing results, adjustments and upgrades to the application services were made. The results prove that the effective version of the mobile application is a communicative platform that can perform the functions of a presenter of theoretical information, a simulator of practical skills, and a space for checking the gained knowledge. This platform can also provide wide opportunities for interaction between teachers and members of the educational process. The authors created a communicative environment as a closed social network, which will encourage students to learn, give parents information about their children's achievements, and spread the material created by the students.
In the information and knowledge society, technology and the COVID-19 pandemic have added to the debate on Media and Information Literacy (MIL). In Peru, in spite of the recommendations from ...international institutions, proper attention has not been given, generating gaps in the study curricula. From this perspective, the study investigates the level of development of MIL in students studying the last cycle of intermediate education. In order to determine this, the AMI-Peru-21 survey was designed and validated, based on the UNESCO proposals. This research is of a quantitative, descriptive and cross-curricular nature, which made it possible to diagnose the relationship of the socioformative factors with the levels of MIL achievement, based on a sample made up by 1250 students from the province of Arequipa. The results evidence the validity and reliability of the instrument (α=0.96) in order to measure the level of MIL, from the perspective of student self-perception, as well as the association of certain socioformative factors with MIL (p<0.000), among them, progress with age, i.e., older ages are associated with greater the levels of achievement, and females make more progress than males. It is also verified that access to basic services, such as electricity and the Internet, and the type of educational institution are correlated with higher levels of MIL achievement. From the evidence that is generated, in order to ensure the education of critical, ethical and responsible citizens, a set of initiatives is suggested to further the evolution of MIL in education.
Social networks are colonised by a culture of confession that turns teenager privacy into a commodity to achieve recognition and social acceptance. This display accelerates the porosity of the ...boundaries between the public and the private and feeds surveillance capitalism. The aim of this systematic review is to examine the empirical evidence on the public-private interaction of teenagers’ contributions to social networks in the last 5 years in databases: Eric, Scopus and Web of Science. Based on the Prisma Statement, the initial search produced 1449 documents, of which 81 were included in the final analysis after the application of exclusion and inclusion criteria and the purging of duplicates. The results show a field of study developed with a decreasing trend in production in recent years, knowledge gaps and discordant findings. It is concluded the need to build solid knowledge and initiate new lines in the study of the issue in order to understand the exhibition of teenagers in social networks. It is points out the urgency of a training based on their own media practices and in digital literacy for a broad understanding of online privacy.
This open access book provides the theoretical and pedagogical foundations for a promising new approach to civic education: using social media to teach civics. While many measures indicate that youth ...civic engagement has long been in decline, many of these measures fail to take into account all of the ways that youth can interact with civic life. One of these understudied ways is through social media, including platforms like Twitter, where young people have the opportunity to encounter the news, engage with people in power, and bring attention to the needs in their community. Throughout this volume, Chapman explores how and why teachers can use social media to teach civics, as well as how it might meet the needs of students in ways other approaches do not.
Untersucht wird die Frage, ob Tönnies Auseinandersetzung mit Nietzsche Argumente gegen die Nietzscherezeption in Medientheorien liefert. Es wird gezeigt, dass das nicht der Fall ist, weil Tönnies ...zwar Nietzsches Argumentation kritisiert, ihm in der Sache aber zustimmt. Deutlich wird dabei, dass Tönnies mit der Setzung von Gewinn als letztem Wert eine liberale Globalisierung in demokratischer und gemeinschaftlicher Absicht argumentiert. Das verringert aus medienpädagogischer Sicht den Wert von Tönnies Nietzschekritik, ermöglicht es aber nicht, Tönnies Theorie für die Begründung eines kybernetischen Totalitarismus heranzuziehen.
This study considers the possibility that students are subversive actors in a hidden curriculum of anti-intellectualism. Mass communication provides the arena in which intellectuals are held up to ...public judgment, and consequently media education represents a promising context for observing the enculturation of resentment. The hidden curriculum framework incorporates three sources of influence: socio-demographics, student-oriented anti-intellectualism (impatience with education, disliking instructors), and three dimensions of journalism ideology: the consumer-oriented and loyal roles and accountability to the public. Data are drawn from questionnaires distributed to undergraduates at five U.S. colleges with comprehensive programs in journalism and mass communication (JMC). Republican identity, student anti-intellectualism, and journalism ideology predict support for news media exposing faculty as subversive. The study concludes with suggestions for future research on how JMC education, from a comparative perspective, could be vulnerable to anti-intellectual incursions depending on media system and populist climate.
