A tanulmány a magyar időmértékes és ütemhangsúlyos versmetrum gépi felismertetésének egy-egy eljárását mutatja be. A magyar időmértékes metrum elemzését végző algoritmus a verset besorolja a ...daktilikus, anapesztikus, jambikus vagy trochaikus kategóriák valamelyikébe, és megadja a megvalósult versritmus szabályosságának mértékét. A magyar ütemhangsúlyos metrum elemzését végző algoritmus pedig megadja az ütemek szótagszámát. A tanulmány a két algoritmus alkalmazási lehetőségeit egy tesztkorpusz segítségével mutatja be, amely tizenegy, a 19. század közepén és második felében, valamint a 20. század első felében alkotó szerző verseit tartalmazza.
InA History of Old English Meter, R. D. Fulk offers a wide-ranging reference on Anglo-Saxon meter. Fulk examines the evidence for chronological and regional variation in the meter of Old English ...verse, studying such linguistic variables as the treatment of West Germanic parasite vowels, contracted vowels, and short syllables under secondary and tertiary stress, as well as a variety of supposed dialect features. Fulk's study of such variables points the way to a revised understanding of the role of syllable length in the construction of early Germanic meters and furnishes criteria for distinguishing dialectal from poetic features in the language of the major Old English poetic codices. On this basis, it is possible to draw conclusions about the probable dialect origins of much verse, to delineate the characteristics of at least four discrete periods in the development of Old English meter, and with some probability to assign to them many of the longer poems, such asGenesis A, Beowulf, and the works of Cynewulf.
A History of Old English Meterwill be of interest to scholars of Anglo-Saxon, historians of the English language, Germanic philologists, and historical linguists.

Die durchgängig hohe Qualität der ...Beiträge, deren konkrete Ergebnisse an drei spezifische zyklische Werke gebunden bleiben, rückt stattdessen die Frage nach den grundsätzlichen Voraussetzungen der hier vorgestellten Forschungen ins Zentrum: (1) Die methodischen Implikationen von Zeitpunktmessungen könnten noch genauer reflektiert werden (die Diskussion der empirischen Messungen erfolgt vor allem anhand der Beiträge zu Bachs ›Goldberg-Variationen‹). (2) Normative Voreinstellungen bei der Selektion von Aufnahmen oder Textreferenzen sollten explizit mitdiskutiert werden (die Diskussion der hermeneutischen Meinungsbildung erfolgt vor allem anhand der Beiträge zu Beethovens ›Diabelli-Variationen‹). (3) Die gemeinsamen oder getrennten Zugangswege von Theorie und Praxis werden nochmals zur Debatte gestellt (nun stärker anhand der Beiträge zu Schuberts Winterreise). (4) Als Ausblick werden Möglichkeiten zur Weiterverwertung der Daten in einem eigenen Analysebeispiel anhand von Aufnahmen des Pianisten Igor Levit vorgeführt. This response is not limited to quoting, commenting on, and, if necessary, criticizing the individual texts in this special issue. The consistently high quality of the contributions, the concrete results of which remain tied to three specific cyclical works, instead suggests a focus on the fundamental prerequisites of the research presented here: (1) The methodological implications of time measurements should be reflected on more closely (the discussion of the empirical measurements takes place primarily on the basis of the articles about Bach’s “Goldberg Variations”). (2) Normative preconditions for the selection of recordings or text references should be explicitly discussed (the discussion of the hermeneutic formation of opinion takes place primarily on the basis of the articles about Beethoven’s “Diabelli Variations”). (3) The common or separate access routes for theory and practice are once again put up for debate (now more on the basis of the articles about Schubert’s Winterreise). (4) As a sign of the new directions such research might take , possibilities for further processing of the data are presented in an analytical example by the author, based on recordings by the pianist Igor Levit.
The article exam- ines the derivational postpositional Greek formant μέηπον (Latin – metrum) as a popular mechanism for the formation of names of medi- cal and technical terms. The relevance of ...linguistic studies is due to the lack of a comprehensive narrow-focused analysis of terminological systems and subsystems of specific branches of medicine, in this case, diagnostic medicine. Research methods: descriptive, structural, com- parative, generalization of information data. Scientific novelty. For the first time, an integrated approach was applied regarding the linguistic characteristics of the Latin names of devices operating in the term “medical diagnostics”. Conclusions. The formant –metrum as a cogni- tive-onomasiological tool for codifying the concept of “measuring device” is the only mechanism for the formation of a group of terms united by the above-mentioned onomasiological att ribute.
Artykuł prezentuje wyniki badań własnych nad imitacją i improwizacją rytmiczną studentów edukacji wczesnoszkolnej w świetle ich ustabilizowanych zdolności muzycznych badanych testem AMMA Edwina ...E. Gordona i gotowości do podjęcia improwizacji rytmicznej testem RIRR tegoż. W pierwszej części badań studenci naśladowali łatwe motywy rytmiczne w metrum dwudzielnym, a kolejna część dotyczyła prowadzenia oralnego dialogu rytmicznego (na sylabie BAH) z nauczycielem z użyciem zróżnicowanych łatwych motywów rytmicznych w metrum dwudzielnym. Ocenie trzech kompetentnych sędziów podlegały zarówno wykonania imitacyjne, jak i improwizacyjne studentów. Podjęto również poszukiwanie związków pomiędzy uzdolnieniem muzycznym, gotowością do improwizacji a umiejętnościami imitowania i improwizowania rytmicznego studentów oraz ich samooceną. Schemat zastosowanych badań mieści się w strategii ilościowej, paradygmacie pozytywistycznym, z metodą testowania i pomiaru z wykorzystaniem testów statystycznych. Oś konstrukcyjną badań stanowiła teoria uczenia się muzyki E.E. Gordona. Za cel uznano diagnozę umiejętności odwzorowywania krótkich schematów (motywów) rytmicznych u studentów studiów licencjackich w formie imitacji oraz dialogu z nauczycielem podczas komunikacji rytmicznej (improwizacji rytmicznej) oraz zidentyfikowanie relacji pomiędzy uzdolnieniem muzycznym, gotowością do improwizacji rytmicznej a umiejętnością imitacji i improwizacji motywów rytmicznych.
This book traces the development of hypermetric verse in Old English and compares it to the cognate traditions of Old Norse and Old Saxon. The study illustrates the inherent flexibility of the ...hypermetric line and shows how poets were able to manipulate this flexibility in different contexts for different practical and rhetorical purposes. This analysis shows what degree of control the poets had over the traditional alliterative line, what effects they were able to produce with various stylistic choices, and how attention to poetic style aids literary analysis.
Surveying the development and varieties of blank verse in the English playhouses, this book is a natural history of iambic pentameter in English. The main aim of the book is to analyze the evolution ...of Renaissance dramatic poetry. Shakespeare is the central figure of the research, but his predecessors, contemporaries and followers are also important: Shakespeare, the author argues, can be fully understood and appreciated only against the background of the whole period. Tarlinskaja surveys English plays by Elizabethan, Jacobean and Caroline playwrights, from Norton and Sackville’s Gorboduc to Sirley’s The Cardinal. Her analysis takes in such topics as what poets treated as a syllable in the 16th-17th century metrical verse, the particulars of stressing in iambic pentameter texts, word boundary and syntactic segmentation of verse lines, their morphological and syntactic composition, syllabic, accentual and syntactic features of line endings, and the way Elizabethan poets learned to use verse form to enhance meaning. She uses statistics to explore the attribution of questionable Elizabethan and Jacobean plays, and to examine several still-enigmatic texts and collaborations. Among these are the poem A Lover's Complaint, the anonymous tragedy Arden of Faversham, the challenging Sir Thomas More, the later Jacobean comedy The Spanish Gypsy, as well as a number of Shakespeare’s co-authored plays. Her analysis of versification offers new ways to think about the dating of plays, attribution of anonymous texts, and how collaborators divided their task in co-authored dramas.

Rhythm is a concept, which is possible to employ in various contexts. This article imagines the normal understanding of rhythm as true structures and against which stand the understanding of the ...opposition of meter versus rhythm in the Czech versological tradition or the French ‘neoplatonic’ approach to rhythm with an emphasis on meaning and subject. This article is devoted as well to the rhythm of the spoken output of various languages and reminds on the division of languages by isochrony and isosyllabism. It will further examine the role of rhythmic language types in a selection of versifying systems and other circumstances, which influence these choices. The final part of the article will concern the rhythmical experiments of Otakar Theer and his drama Faëthón, perhaps one of the most expansive Czech texts written in accentual verse.
Die Erörterung kultureller Varianz sowohl zwischen als auch innerhalb von Gesellschaften leidet unter der Neigung, das je eigene kulturelle Umfeld als ›natürlich‹ wahrzunehmen. Diese Neigung ist in ...der Musikforschung nicht zuletzt als eurozentrisches Bias nach wie vor präsent. Unser Artikel möchte zu punktuellen Korrekturen dieses Bias im Feld der empirischen Rhythmusforschung beitragen. Wir analysieren einen Korpus von Audio-Aufnahmen aus Mali und untersuchen dabei das Verhältnis von Rhythmus und Metrum (Studie 1), den theoretischen Status ungleichmäßiger Grundschlagsunterteilung (›Swing-Timing‹, Studie 2) und die Interaktion musikalischer Rollen bei der Ensemble-Synchronisation (Studie 3). Discussions of cultural variation, both between and within societies, suffer from the disposition to conceive of one’s own cultural environment as ›natural.‹ This disposition is still present not least as a euro-centric bias in the study of music. Our article strives to offer a partial correction to the lingering euro-centric bias in the field of empirical rhythm research. We analyze a corpus of audio recordings from Mali, wherein we study three issues: rhythm-meter relations (study 1), the theoretical status of uneven beat subdivision or ›swing timing‹ (study 2), and the interaction amongst musical roles in ensemble synchronization (study 3).
