The role and impact of cross-cultural migrations in the modern age
Comunidad, pertenencia, extranjería reveals the central role played by labour and mercantile migration from the North Sea region in the Viceroyalty of New Spain during a critical period in the formation of colonial societies. Far from being a marginal migration, as has been believed until now, the presence of northern migrants was strategic for the expansion and maintenance of the Hispanic monarchy due to their contribution of labour, technological knowledge, commercial networks, and transnational capital. From the cross-sectional analysis of the impact of this migration on the society, politics, and economy of New Spain, this work shows how it is impossible to tell the story of the Spanish empire without taking into account the role that non-Spanish Europeans played in its formation and evolution.

This is a sweeping and provocative work of aesthetic theory: a trenchant critique of the philosophy of art as it developed from the eighteenth century to the early twentieth century, combined with a ...carefully reasoned plea for a new and more flexible approach to art.
Jean-Marie Schaeffer, one of France's leading aestheticians, explores the writings of Kant, Schlegel, Novalis, Hegel, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, and Heidegger to show that these diverse thinkers shared a common approach to art, which he calls the "speculative theory." According to this theory, art offers a special kind of intuitive, quasi-mystical knowledge, radically different from the rational knowledge acquired by science. This view encouraged theorists to consider artistic geniuses the high-priests of humanity, creators of works that reveal the invisible essence of the world. Philosophers came to regard inexpressibility as the aim of art, refused to consider second-tier creations genuine art, and helped to create conditions in which the genius was expected to shock, puzzle, and mystify the public. Schaeffer shows that this speculative theory helped give birth to romanticism, modernism, and the avant-garde, and paved the way for an unfortunate divorce between art and enjoyment, between "high art" and popular art, and between artists and their public.
Rejecting the speculative approach, Schaeffer concludes by defending a more tolerant theory of art that gives pleasure its due, includes popular art, tolerates less successful works, and accounts for personal tastes.
"A remarkable work... Schaeffer's writing is governed by ... the ideals of clarity and consequence, the ideas of logic, truth, and evidence... Schaeffer is so precise and unrelenting a philosophical critic that one wonders how some of the philosophies he anatomizes here can possibly survive the operation."--From the foreword by Arthur C. We performed the 1st bibliometric analysis of the Moderna mRNA-1273 vaccine (for COVID-19). On May 28, 2021, the data was retrieved from the Scopus database. In total, two hundred and three (n=203) ...documents are published about Moderna, majorly comprising of reviews (n=84) and articles (n=66). In all documents (reviews and articles only), 1110 authors have significantly contributed. The documents per author were 0.135, while authors per document were 7.4. The collaborative Index (CI) was 8.34. By Lotka's Law, we provided information about the frequency of authors. For example, 1021 authors were involved in one (n=1) publication. The total number of publications, h-index, m-index, g-index, and total citations for all authors are provided. The highest documents are published by the National Institutes of Health NIH (n-8) & Moderna Therapeutics (n=8 and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases NIAID (n=7). Fifty-five (n=55) countries have significantly contributed to all publications. The highest documents are published by the United States (n=74), India (n=30), and the United Kingdom (n=16). By Biblioshiny, the co-authorship network is also presented. All documents are published in 118 different sources, majorly in Vaccines (n=6), Frontiers in Immunology (n=5), and New England Journal Of Medicine (n=4). We also provided the H-index, g-index, and m-index of all sources. The top ten (n-10) most cited documents are briefly discussed, while we provided a general overview of the publications by co-words analysis. On December 18, 2020, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the Moderna COVID-19 (mRNA-1273) vaccine.
ABSTRACT This paper has its origin in the round table “Perspectives about the modern Brazilian drama”, that took place in the IX ABRACE Congress in 2016. It presents a synthesis of some ideas about the modern drama in Brazil that lay their foundation in the research project of professors of three universities (UNICAMP, UFMG e UFSJ), connected by the research group: Group of Studies in Playwriting Letter and Act. This paper presents, therefore, three viewpoints about modern drama in Brazil that, without the purpose of forming a unique view, start a dialogue with the canonic history of Brazilian theater, in order to propose a theoretical review. In this sense, sharing concepts, theories, methodologies and objects, the individual researches have been composing collective results about the same thematic, that the three author are organizing in order to publish. KEYWORDS Teatro brasileiro moderno; dramaturgia moderna; cena moderna.
Abstract This article proposes a reflection on Brazil and its works analogous to slavery that has been widely used within the business practices of global capital and is a topic little explored in administration research. The article analyzes the unfolding of works analogous to slavery in the 21st century. This qualitative study consists of a bibliographic and documentary research based on the perspective of dialectical and historical materialism. It analyzes secondary data from infraction notices from the Ministry of Labor and Welfare, the ministry’s list of companies engaged in slave labor, and data from Radar SIT (statistics and information dashboard of labor inspection in Brazil) between 1995 and 2022. In addition, this study collected information from journalistic articles that portrayed inspections of modern slave labor, thus enabling examples of this practice in contemporary times. The findings show that the very lack of more assertive public policies and the fragility of the criminal applicability of Brazilian legislation have challenged the eradication of modern slave labor in the country.
