The emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) prompted accelerated vaccine development of novel messenger RNA (mRNA)-based vaccines by Moderna and Pfizer, which ...received FDA Emergency Use Authorization in December 2020. The purpose of this study was to examine trends in primary series administration and multi-dose completion rates with Moderna’s mRNA-1273 vaccine administered at a United States retail pharmacy.
Walgreens pharmacy data were joined to publicly available data sets to examine trends in mRNA-1273 primary series and multi-dose completion across patient race/ethnicity, age, gender, distance to first vaccination, and community characteristics. Eligible patients received their first dose of mRNA-1273 administered by Walgreens between December 18, 2020 and February 28, 2022. Variables significantly associated with on-time second dose (all patients) and third dose (immunocompromised patients) in univariate analyses were included in linear regression models. A subset of patients in selected states were studied to identify differences in early and late vaccine adoption.
Patients (N = 4,870,915) who received ≥ 1 dose of mRNA-1273 were 57.0% White, 52.6% female, and averaged 49.4 years old. Approximately 85% of patients received a second dose during the study period. Factors associated with on-time second dose administration included older age, race/ethnicity, traveling ≤ 10 miles for the first dose, higher community-level health insurance, and residing in areas with low social vulnerability. Only 51.0% of immunocompromised patients received the third dose as recommended. Factors associated with third dose administration included older age, race/ethnicity, and small-town residence. Early adopters accounted for 60.6% of patients. Factors associated with early adoption included older age, race/ethnicity, and metropolitan residence.
Over 80% of patients received their on-time second dose of mRNA-1273 vaccine per CDC recommendations. Patient demographics and community characteristics were associated with vaccine receipt and series completion. Novel approaches to facilitate series completion during a pandemic should be further studied.
The study of the historiography of the noble Portuguese noble Francisco Manuel de Melo (1606-1666) was the object of many studies by history and literature researchers of the Iberian Peninsula in the ...early modern period. However, most of these studies were based on a reflection that did not follow the requirement of an analysis iuxta propria principia: based on the analysis of the historical work of the nobleman we find readings external to the time of production of the historiography of the Portuguese intellectual. Affected by a philological concern, we intend, in this article, to analyze the theory of historical discourse of Francisco Manuel de Melo present in the work of literary criticism, Hospital das Letras, seeking to understand the categories used by the author himself in the production of his historical writings.
This article undertakes an interpretative exercise regarding two publishing licenses present in Sebastião da Rocha Pitta’s História da América Portuguesa (“History of Portuguese America”). Said ...licenses were written by António Rodrigues da Costa and D. António Caetano de Souza (members of the Royal Academy of Portuguese History). Looking at these textual constructions, we analyze the approval process of the work in question, in an attempt to understand the expectations of adequacy of historiographic prose within the sphere of the Royal Academy of Portuguese History.

Studies on the history of the family in the Kingdom of Granada during the Modern Age have come a long way in the last thirty years, with remarkable scientific results that provide a great deal of insight into its behaviour and structure. In view of the possible documentary sources to be used, the difficulties that exist are evident, especially on account of the territorial characteristics of the area and the complex reconstruction of the family model. Despite this, we have a large number of submissions on the subject, which, apart from their quantitative contribution, have produced interesting analyses on the family in the past of Andalusia, offering multiple qualitative aspects, thus completing the process of examining one of the essential pieces of historical construction.
Which are the buildings that we define as Modern Architecture in El Salvador? The word “modern” in architecture has a meaning and period in time that differs to the term coined by the general public, ...where it is usually points out the characteristics of a building of recent construction and with a particular aesthetic of formal finishes, according to the tendencies of the current market. So how is Modern Architecture in El Salvador? Where is it? In the history of El Salvador this period is defined between 1940 and 1980, where the meaning of the design of the buildings during this time was radically transformed. The aspects that drove this change are directly linked to the economic situation (bonanza periods), socio-political (military governments), technological (industrialization) and cultural (cinema, radio and television redefined social life).Realidad: Revista de Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades No. 150, 2017: 41-64
Children with very early onset inflammatory bowel disease (VEO‐IBD) may respond differently to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) immunization compared to healthy children or other patients with ...IBD. We recruited children with VEO‐IBD <6 years of age and younger following receipt of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) vaccine. Demographics, IBD characteristics, medication use, adverse events (AEs) and IBD exacerbations were collected. Blood draws (optional) were obtained for measurement of antireceptor binding domain (RBD) IgG antibodies following vaccination. Of 41 participants, none required emergency department visit or hospitalization due to AE, and only one experienced IBD exacerbation. Detectable antibody was present in 19/19 participants who provided blood sample; 6/7 participants (86%) had durable humoral response 12 months postvaccination. Children with VEO‐IBD experience robust humoral immune response to COVID‐19 immunization. Severe AEs were rare. These findings provide reassurance that children with VEO‐IBD respond well and safely to SARS‐CoV‐2 vaccination.
What is Known
Many pediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) were excluded from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) vaccine trials because of their immunosuppressive therapies.
Children under 12 years of age receive a lower dose of vaccine compared to older children and adults.
What is New
All patients had detectable antibody following the primary vaccine series, and 86% had durable antibody at 12 months.
Serious adverse events to SARS‐CoV‐2 vaccine were rare in children with VEO‐IBD.
