The issue of liberation is a recurrent theme in all schools of Indian classical thought. In case of
advaita-vedānta it is deeply rooted in ontology. The problem of ontological status of the world
was ...the bone of contention for two competing non‑dualist schools of vedānta — vivaraṇa and
bhāmatī. Maṇḍana’s Brahmasiddhi can be regarded as an important source of inspiration for
the latter. The present paper is an analysis of Maṇḍana’s statements pertaining to the issue of
mukti (or mokṣa) in contrast with those of Śankara, the exponent of advaita commonly (though
erroneously) considered the creator and the most prominent representative of the school.

After the Mongol invasion, the few remaining monuments of the Upper Posurye and Moksha region became part of the Golden Horde, and the population of this region, preserving old traditions, gradually ...began to play an important role in the life of the new state. Archaeological studies of the monuments of this period (primarily the Narovchatsky settlement and the Nikolsky settlement) indicate the high development of the material culture of the Upper Posurye and Moksha region during this period. Agriculture, cattle breeding, and crafts continued to develop here, and copper and silver coins were minted. Goods from Old Rus and Central Asia penetrated here along trade routes. This allows the authors to conclude that during the Golden Horde, life in the territory of Upper Posurye and Moksha region did not subside, the local population continued to actively contact other regions, and the settlements that remained on this territory turned into large cultural and trade centers.
The Socially Involved Renunciate is an in-depth analysis and an original English translation of the Siddh Gost, a fundamental philosophical text of the Sikh tradition. The work reflects the ...distinctive worldview of Sikhism, the only major Indian religion that does not regard asceticism as a legitimate path to liberation. Composed by Guru Nanak, a medieval, north Indian saint- poet and venerated founder of the Sikh tradition, the Siddh Gost is a dialogue between Guru Nanak and several Nath yogis who had been pursuing a rigorous path of hath-yoga as renunciates of the material world. Through their dialogue, Guru Nanak teaches the Nath yogis a spiritual path that also includes involvement in the social world and offers a practical way to achieve liberation. In The Socially Involved Renunciate, Kamala Elizabeth Nayar and Jaswinder Singh Sandhu provide background on Sikhism, highlight the ethical teachings expounded in the Siddh Gost, and demonstrate how Guru Nanak reconciles the polarities of the ascetic and householder ideals.
This paper deals with the unique interpretation that Satya Sai Baba offers to the notion of Mokṣa in Hinduism. The paper attempts to relate his interpretation with that of the Advaita Vedanta. Sri ...Satya Sai Baba has explained the derivation of mokṣa as an acronym formed by combining the first two letters of the words 'moha' (delusion) and 'kṣaya' (destruction/removal). Mokṣa, the ultimate of puruṣārthas is the attainment of the ever-existing, ever-stable, ever-pure ātma-tattva and getting rid of the ever-changing, ever-unreal, impure deha-tattva. So long as there is attachment, the world appears permanent. This should be removed, and this process of mohakṣaya (attrition of attachment) is mokṣa. Once this attachment goes, what remains is simply ānanda (bliss). To convert our lives, to some extent, in this manner is the path of Brahman. The essay is divided into five sections: 1. Definition and nature of Mokṣa, 2. Kinds of Mokṣa 3. Obstacles, 4. Means for Mokṣa, and 5.Their complementary nature. In an effort to provide a close reading of Sai Baba's interpretation of the topic, the study is entirely relied upon his writings and comments. However, classical Hindu textual references are provided for his various comments where appropriate.
