Este artigo apresenta reflexões sobre o impacto da expressão sonora e musical no ensino/aprendizagem de crianças, considerando a mediação no ambiente museal. A pesquisa teve como objetivo, investigar ...como atividades lúdicas envolvendo o universo sonoro e musical, podem contribuir para a relação museu, criança e escola, principalmente no contexto de museus tradicionais. O projeto foi desenvolvido com alunos do 3º ano do ensino fundamental, da Escola EMEF Cecília Meireles, em visitação ao Museu de Arte Fundação Ernesto Frederico Scheffel, da cidade de Novo Hamburgo. O universo lúdico da música é um instrumento pedagógico que se alia a diversas áreas do conhecimento, com a possibilidade de transformar espaços de aprendizagem em locais mágicos e brincantes. Nesse sentido, propostas envolvendo a expressão sonora e musical, considerando a visitação em um museu tradicional, revelaram novas possibilidades de ações educativas, resultando um envolvimento significativo, censo de pertencimento e de identificação com o espaço visitado.
The following is a synthesis of twenty years of research conducted in museum education on the psychological functioning of adult visitors exploring contemporary artworks. The identification of the ...dissonances and consonances expressed by visitors has allowed us to understand, among other things, the foci of attention as well as some of the mental operations that contribute to a transformative aesthetic experience. This article presents the factors that favour the participant-visitor’s relationship with contemporary art, one in which the adult is led to consider the pleasures of ambiguity and to appreciate the new experiences provoked by the works exhibited in a museum.
This article reviews the potential functions and approaches of museum education in alleviating psychological anxiety, particularly the psychological anxiety experienced by adolescents during the ...COVID-19 pandemic. We outline the main forms of museum education, highlighting how it supports the potential functions of art therapy for psychological anxiety. Thereafter, we review the representative research on museum art therapy practice for different populations to invite discussion, dialogue, and awareness of future directions for museum education and suggest gaps in the research that require further study.
The use of digital technology and creation of network infrastructures in Brazil’s national museums has emerged as an important research topic in recent years, either from the perspective of finding ...new ways to socialize collections and to expand their potential or by implementing new practices to manage and organize these institutions. This article aims to debate how museum education sectors can establish new social practices of digital culture based on the perspectives identified by digital technologies. To this end, a reflection was carried out based on the educational potential proposed by the National Policy on Museum Education, and a case study was performed based on the experience of the Tainacan project, implemented by the Brazilian Museum Institute for the socialization of museum collections in the digital universe. The results are still preliminary; however, they can show how the practices of digital culture, considering that the network has its own characteristics and socialization strategies that are inherent to it, which can be used in favour of museum education, constitute operational possibilities, which can be applied in the reality of Brazilian museum institutions.
The Covid-19 pandemic has shown us that every educational institution has a duty to value more than outdoor activities and artistic and cultural heritage. In fact, at times of lock-down they have ...been missed by students and teachers alike. However, it is risk management that holds teachers back from implementing non-indoor activities (and always staying inside the school walls). This paper proposes an examination of these issues, the purpose of which is to promote a culture of heritage capitalization that has the school as one of its most active promoters. Keywords. Encounters with artworks in museum spaces are interactive processes that interweave physical, personal, and sociocultural contexts. This qualitative case study addresses an additional context – a ...multicultural one – in examining the impact of two contemporary art museum spaces associated with different cultures on the emerging awareness of multiculturalism in intercultural encounters. The study examines a “Multicultural Museum Dialogue” course attended by Palestinian-Arab and Jewish-Israeli undergraduate students of art and art education in college in Israel. Trained in co-teaching bilingual instruction, the college students led Palestinian-Arab and Isreli-Jewish high school youth in artwork encounters at the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art (Jewish-Israeli majority culture) and the Umm al-Fahm Art Gallery (Palestinian-Arab minority culture). Analysis of twelve semi-structured interviews with students of both groups indicated that both characterized the museum space as fertile ground for intercultural encounters and diverse interpretive discourse that raised multicultural awareness as well as a universal human perspective. This effect was most powerful at the Umm al-Fahm Art Gallery, visited second. Nevertheless, additional training appears needed to further expand students’ multicultural awareness. Following Banks' (2009) and Chin’s (2013) five dimensions of multicultural education and art education, this research suggests a sixth – learning in diverse cultural spaces. To enhance cultural awareness, we recommend developing multicultural educational curricula that include joint active learning in cross-cultural spaces (e.g., art museums), focusing on physical egalitarian encounters and interpersonal and intergroup dynamics that consider power relations.
In recent years, art museums have been putting more effort into creating e-learning resources (ELR) to encourage young children to learn about art off-site. However, research on art museum ELR from ...the perspective of educational content is scarce. Using the ELR offered to children by Queensland Art Gallery/ Gallery of Modern Art, Australia (QAGOMA KIDS), as an example for qualitative content analysis, this research interrogates the fundamental issues regarding the types of learning content provided and the learning experiences that the interactive e-games might offer to children. The findings show that the content of the ELR reflected a constructivist museum education approach and that the e-games may offer children empowering and motivating learning experiences. This research offers two suggestions for art museum educators and e-games designers: (1) use e-games to guide children through the creative explorative process that artists go through and (2) articulate learning objectives and scaffold with guided questions to support children's art learning via the e-games.
The noticeable changes which take place in museums, regardless of the character of the collected and displayed artefacts, allow to draw attention to a definite turn towards the audience. The ...inclusiveness of educational activities, which results from the transition from passive to active cooperation methods, causes an increasingly common educational turn within the field of museum studies. The article is an attempt to present the research perspective undertaken by the author. This kind of approach is meant to examine the use of museums in order to change the society. The definition of social responsibility ought to be considered on different points of view while acknowledging documents of museum strategies.
