Aliancas e parcerias.
"This is one of my favorite shows," she said, having done it before at SHS -- though this cast, she said, breathes new life into the classic. "I have a very talented pool of kids this year, and I ...knew they would do it justice. I also knew I had a couple of potential Conrad Birdies." For Jessica Hanam, who will hit the stage as fun-loving teen Kim McAfee, participating in theater productions at the high school level is something she will carry with her after graduation. "(Ms. Bonnie Narcisi) has been a big influence on me," she said, with her eyes on continuing to stoke her drama fire in college. "I can see myself being a part of (theater) forever." "We have a very active parents group, and we are so lucky to have the Shrewsbury Schools Music Association there to fundraise and support us," she said. "The community very much supports the arts in this town, and therefore our students are encouraged at home to do what they do here, and our musicals and plays are always very well attended."
"Most of us have been with the band since day one," Ms. Kristina Looney says. "We take a lot of pride in it and everything is fun. We enjoy hanging out together. When new people join us, they slip in ...and fit right in." "We've experimented with all genres of music and featured singers, smaller ensembles and soloists," he added. Last year, the band marched in numerous parades, won several awards and enjoyed participating in the town's Founder's Day festivities earlier this summer. Alto saxophone/clarinet player Tim Pelletier is a junior at Leicester High School and the town group's youngest member. Despite the fact that he is currently the band's only teenager, he emphasizes that his fellow musicians welcomed him with "open arms and friendliness."
Garbed in their handsome new black-and-white uniforms, the band will hold center stage at Future World East in Disney World's Epcot Center in Florida. For 25 minutes - 10 more than the ...usually-allotted 15 - all eyes and ears in at least that part of the famed entertainment center will be focused on Leicester, Mass. "We were pretty sure," said Leicester High music director Nicola Narcisi, who is also conductor of the band. "They had tentatively accepted us on the basis of video and audio tapes we sent, but they wanted to see our uniforms. And it was December before we had them and had needed alterations made so we could show them off." The uniforms - long black gowns with white chiffon shoulder drapes for the girls, black trousers with white dress shirts, black cummerbunds and black bow ties for the boys - and the tapes not only solidified the band's acceptance at Disney World, they also gained the group the offer of an additional 10 minutes on stage for both performances, something that doesn't happen often, according to Joan Bussolari, the band's official videographer.
A hit in the 1996-97 Off-Broadway season and a popular show since, "I Love You ..." (with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts) takes a generally breezy and humorous look at ...relationships from dating through marriage, children and old age. The musical revue has its cast play numerous characters in vignettes and numbers with titles such as "Cantata for a First Date," "Marriage Tango," "The Baby Song" and "Funerals are for Dating." RePlay started out with one production each summer and the last couple of years has had its summer show ("The Wedding Singer" last year and "Godspell" in 2014) complemented by a gala event. RePlay plans to stage "9 to 5 The Musical" this summer, and a gala is scheduled for June 24. "I Love You ... " is "really hilarious and funny and other times quite sensitive and poignant," Narcissi said. Note: there is "mature subject matter, but it's all in good fun."
WEBSTER - You can bet the Bartlett High School show choir will not be watching Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade - because the 34- member group, called "Impressions," will be among more than 300 high ...school students performing as part of the America Sings show choir. Impressions is the only show choir from Massachusetts that will be performing with America Sings in this year's parade, according to Judy Wellert, executive director of America Sings. America Sings has participated in the Macy's parade twice before, in 1988 and in 1989, Wellert said. The Southbridge High School show choir performed in the parade in 1988, when Bonnie Narcisi was its director.
Last fall, the choir performed in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Members were invited to march again this year, but Mrs. Bonnie L. Narcisi said they will not be going back ...because of the expense. Mrs. Narcisi said the group will be conducting fund-raisers and soliciting donations to help cover the cost of the trip, which is estimated at $379 per student. The figure includes transportation, hotel rooms, three-day pass to Disney World and admission to Sea World. Mrs. Narcisi, who started the Crimson Classics five years ago, said she was especially proud the group was chosen because it is comparatively new.
The Wedding Singer": book by Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy, music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chard Beguelin, directed by Kira Trolio, music director Bonnie Narcisi, choreographer Katie Monopoli.
"The slope at Pine Ridge, the ski school, the ticket prices, everything here is geared toward families coming, learning to ski, having a good time," Jill O'Connor said. Paula Narcisi, a teacher at ...Leominster High and a longtime instructor at Pine Ridge, cites the friendliness of the staff and the enthusiasm of those skiing at Pine Ridge as reasons for her continued association with the ski area.
