The composition and distributions of tabanids occurring in Maritime Canada are relatively well-known (see Teskey 1990; Marshall 2007; Thomas and Marshall 2009; Thomas 2011). However, some species ...have remained undetected until very recently. From New Brunswick in particular, field studies by several surveyors have yielded significant and new records of tabanids (Thomas 2018). Here we further add to the regional knowledge of this charismatic group and include a new record for the Maritimes and two additional provincial records.

Weevils of the genus Smicronyx Schönherr, 1843 are a relatively widespread taxonomic group in the Western Palaearctic. Despite its widespread distribution, faunistic data on it are scarce, and there ...are even entire regions with no current faunistic data. Here, we report on the first records of the genus from Latvia. Two species have been recorded in Latvia for the first time: Smicronyx jungermanniae Reich, 1797 and Smicronyx coecus Reich, 1797. Faunistic data on this taxonomic group in the Baltic region are scarce. The aim of this article is to raise knowledge of this taxon in the hope that it will lead to new discoveries elsewhere.

Abstract Objective The aim is to enrich the angiosperm germplasm resources in Shanxi Province, and promote research on biodiversity and forest ecosystems in Zhongtiao Mountain area. Methods Photoes ...of plant specimens and their typical features from Zhongtiao Mountains were collected through specimen identification, data access, and expert consultation, by conducting an extensive field survey of vegetation. Results Five species of angiosperms were newly recorded in Shanxi Province, including viz. Rumex acetosella L., Anemone narcissiflora subsp. protracta (Ulbrich) Ziman & Fedoronczuk, Cardamine flexuosa With., Impatiens lushiensis Y. L. Chen, and Physalis minima L.. Conclusion These plants belong to 5 families and 5 genera, which are newly recorded species of angiosperms from Shanxi Province. These discoveries enrich the angiosperms germplasm resources and provide a basis for the study of plant diversity and florogenesis in Zhongtiao Mountain Area.
