Tekst zawiera uwagi polemiczne do książki Pawła Pieniążka pt. Jednostka, zło, historia w myśli Rousseau (Łódź 2022). Podjęta zostaje próba dyskusji z Autorem nad interpretacją głównych dzieł ...Rousseau, ich najważniejszymi pojęciami i problemami teoretycznymi. Mowa jest zwłaszcza o Umowie społecznej, Emilu, Marzeniach samotnego wędrowca, Nowej Heloizie, lecz pojawiają się też istotne odniesienia do tzw. pierwszej i drugiej Rozprawy, Dialogów i Listów do Malesherbesa. Tam, gdzie Pieniążek widzi tylko dowody „porażki” ideałów emancypacyjnych Rousseau i „klęskę” jego dzieła, tam autor polemiki stara się pokazać, że istnieją alternatywne sposoby czytania tekstów Rousseau, pozwalające ochronić go przed tradycyjnym zarzutem, że nie zdołał on uzgodnić wspólnotowego i indywidualistycznego planu swojej myśli i pozostał rozdarty między dwoma sprzecznymi i wykluczającymi się wzajemnie ideałami: obywatela i samotnika.
This paper assesses the works of Professor Alexandr Stich (1934–2003) devoted to the literature of the Early Modern era (especially the Baroque). This influential literary historian, linguist and ...textual critic turned his attention to Baroque literature mainly after 1989, and it remained at the centre of his interest until his death. The article delineates the various areas of Stich's research into 16ᵗʰ–18ᵗʰ century literature (evaluative surveys, synthetic studies, interpretations of individual works, studies of motifs manifesting themselves in various eras of literary history). The author analyzes Stich's 'linguistic-literary' method which combines literary history with linguistic methodology, placing it in the context of traditional philological research and studies of literary stylistics. Stich's focus on the interpretation of texts and his analysis of key motifs of Baroque literature is assessed alongside his application of newer trends incorporating the external contexts of literary works (cultural studies, New Historicism).
Mędrzec perski podejmuje temat Izraela i ludów pogańskich.
Wreszcie prezentuje księcia egzegetów głoszącego absolutne panowanie Boga Najwyższego nad światem i wszystkimi stworzeniami, przeciwko twórcom nauki o neonach i ich rzekomo szczególnej mocy.
This study aims to better understand the authorial figure of Vladislav Vančura by reconstructing the critical and literary-historical image conveyed to us by the reception of the writer during his ...lifetime, starting with the writer’s first short story collections and finishing with his Obrazy z dějin národa českého (‘Images from the history of the Czech nation’). Loosely following on the theoretical bases of previous discussions, which in various ways conceptualize the effect of the ‘name of the author’ in relation to his work (Foucault, Bourdieu, Russian formalism, Mukařovský), this study examines Vančura’s literary output through the lens of its author (as a constructed figure and category), especially in terms of the author function as it serves to form this output into a unified whole. It deals with changes in the name of the author mainly in relation to Vančura’s reception. During the interwar period the critical reception captured the creative phenomenon of the writer in the course of his development, at a moment when his extreme style and language caused numerous controversies which grew into open polemics. While these revolved primarily around the issue of aesthetics (in the case of Pole orná a válečná and Poslední soud), they involved broader worldview and ideological issues (as with the novel Tři řeky). Vančura’s persistent search for a narrative form repeatedly compelled critics and interpreters of his time to reassess the criteria and critical standards for literature. This study traces the transformations of the author’s image in this context all through his life as it assumed countless ‘faces’, subverting the traditional assumption of coherence in Vančura’s literary output that the concept of the author was meant to guarantee, and thus demonstrating — given the failure of this concept to bring about such coherence — how it is necessary to look instead for those places of incoherence, contradiction, and disparity. To this end, the study does not seek to cover the history of Vančura’s reception in all its facets but to trace those significant moments when the image of the author and his work was transformed, challenging unequivocal interpretations and defying the interpretative stereotypes and schemes into which it has so often been confined.
The article presents the way of using paradoxographical information regarding the matter of animals with doubtful identification in leading anti-heretical and Anti-Judaist polemic on the example of ...the sixth book Commentary on Isaiah by Jerome of Stridon. In the allegoric explanation of Is 13:19 - 14:1 Bethlehem monk juxtaposed widely known information about mythological creatures with the well-known story from the Book of Genesis about the conflict of Esau with Jacob. This let him explain why the followers of Judaism and heretics are the allies when it comes to fighting with the Church. Anti-Judaism and anti-heretic polemic was one of the most important topic brought up by alexandrine exegesis that Jerome was influenced by during his whole life.
The research goal the article was to present the ways of polemical fight of Cyril of Jerusalem in pre-baptismal catecheses given by him during the period of Lent. Catechumens, listening to ...catechetical speeches of their bishop, often learned about the existence of various theological misinterpretation. The Jerusalem shepherd noted at the beginning of his cycle of catecheses that he would pay attention to the heretical views. The bishop included an extensive description of the existing at that time false faith groups in one of the initial catechesis to sensitize the listeners to the spiritual evil introduced into their minds by heretics. The particular theological truths the bishop explained on the basis of the Articles of Faith contained in the so-called symbol of Jerusalem. In every consecutive teaching Cyril referred to these erroneous views that concerned the currently explained theological issue. Through their juxtaposition the listeners could better understand and at the same time distinguish the true interpretation of the faith from its misinterpretation. The bishop of Jerusalem turned out to be not only an outstanding theologian, but also a good polemicist, and an excellent teacher.
Mędrzec perski kontynuuje i rozwija polemikę z nauczaniem judaizmu i rabinów ...babilońskiej diaspory.
