There are many digital transformation challenges going forward towards Industry 4.0 in Thailand, especially for the traditional manufacturing firms that have been operating without digital ...technologies. The paper presents a case study of a safety shoe manufacturer, CPL Group Public Company Limited, adopting digital technologies to transform its production system of 40 years. It presents a conceptual design for production tracking based on IoT technologies for productivity improvement. This research uses inductive case study research design by interviewing executives and participating in the digital tracking development project using IoT sensors and image processing. The findings show the key success factors of digital transformation in manufacturing, strategies required for development, and the conceptual design of the production tracking system.
The concept of Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) has attracted a lot of attention from academia and industry in recent years. Many existing manufacturers are forced to relook into their exiting ...production processes, exploring modern ways to improve the yields. Unfortunately, this is difficult to achieve when the data is limited. The situation is particularly serious for many SMEs in developing countries, wherein the manufacturing machines are not up-to-date and lack computational and connectivity capabilities. As an initiative to tackle this issue, we present an end-to-end Internet-of-Things (IoT) solution in this paper, aiming at tracking the production performance of old manufacturing machines reliably. This paper goes over the designs and reasoning behind the proposed solution. We also demonstrated that with careful optimization, high-performance secure encryption key encapsulation and decapsulation are achievable, which is critical for secure communication in IoT systems. As of the time of writing, our IoT system had been deployed in a real manufacturing environment and had been running continuously for approximately 365 days without data loss over the wide area network (WAN).
In this paper, a Thermo-Electric Cooler (TEC) based ambiently adaptive Atmospheric Water Generator (AWG) system is proposed. Due to the advantages of TEC technology, it has been relied upon in the ...phase of dehumidifying the air flowing in the proposed system as an alternative to other mechanical methods. An AWG cooling control system has been developed based on the proposed algorithm to determine the temperature that achieves the highest productivity, which depends on the change in thermal load by changing the airflow, which keeps the temperature of the humid air inside the system below the Dew Point (DP) temperature at varying ambient conditions for sustainable water productivity. A novel Maximum Production Tracking (MPT) algorithm is introduced to automatically determine the marginal temperature below the DP for maximum productivity. The proposed system is simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK under different ambient conditions. The obtained results affirmed the potential and verification of the proposed approach.

This paper presents a case study on the Improvement of production tracking techniques in a manufacturing environment. The study aims to analyses the effectiveness of current production tracking ...process. Failures modes related to the use of the ERP software are detected and improvement on the implementation of the ERP software are investigated. The findings highlight the significant impact of improvement in production tracking on enhancing productivity, and facilitating timely decision- making.
Business process models in systems engineering describe authority, communications, procedures, flows of information and goods, capacity growth, etc. Within business process models, the information ...modeling method or IDEF1 describes attributes and relationships among entities of a system. Previous efforts introduced IDEF0 for risk identification. IDEF0 describes the activities of an organization, while IDEF1 describes the attributes of entities as a set of rules. This paper joins risk identification with entity attributes of the IDEF1 model with the aim to be more comprehensive in tracking sources of risk. The approach of the paper is an augmented IDEF1 model that identifies and tracks sources of risk as features of the model. The approach is demonstrated via three examples: (1) generic procurement process, (2) production tracking for raw materials, and (3) an authenticator and transmitter system. Future efforts will integrate other business process models, including IDEF 1X, 2,3,4, 5 etc., with risk identification. The results assist with risk management in systems acquisition, systems design and evaluation, systems testing, etc.
The concept of Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) has sparked the urgency of many manufacturers to revisit their manufacturing processes and search for opportunities to further improved their ...production output. Unfortunately, it is difficult to improve a process with inadequate data. Many of the SMEs in developing countries are still using manufacturing machines from the yesteryears which do not have computational and connectivity capabilities. Therefore, we developed an end-to-end Internet-of-Things (IoT) solution, which reliably tracks the production performance of manufacturing machines. This paper elaborates on the designs and the rationale behind it. As of the writing of this paper, our IoT system has been deployed in real manufacturing environment and has been running for approximately 90 days on a 24/7 basis without data lost.
In 21st century, due to the technological development, the scope of business process has crossed the boundary of traditional working procedure. In this article the author has demystified about an ERP ...titled as Production Tracking System (PTS) which is helping the publishing industry with reference to publishing project management by amalgamating the client, service provider on one side and the typesetter and supplier from other side. This article is a cash report which analyses the various dimensional implementation of business activity through PTS of a publishing firm and its typesetter particularly and gives a bird’s eye view about the effectiveness of the tool with relation to managerial competencies and decision making capabilities.
A production tracking and scheduling system was developed based on a cloud computing-based system architecture. Cloud and radio frequency identification technologies were integrated to implement ...remote production data capture and tracking, and intelligent optimization techniques are adopted to provide effective production scheduling solutions. A prototype system was developed to implement the remote production tracking and scheduling functions in a distributed manufacturing environment. The effectiveness of the system was validated by improved production efficiency and reduced production waste and costs.
This paper presents a production tracking and mass balance method in a refinery based on the framework of manufacturing operation management which is defined in prominent international standard ...IEC/ISO 62264. Based on the product network constraints determined from production dispatching and product quantities from production data collection, a data reconciliation approach based on Support Vector regression is applied to obtain the mass balance. A practice application example shows our approach is efficient and reasonable.
