In relation to conceptualizing sports, beliefs about sex binary and male hegemony are dominant. To match these assumptions and provide level playing fields, sport systems are based on ...sex-segregation. Thus, people who do not fit into or reject fitting into sex categories are hindered from participating in sports, particularly organized sports. Studies on social exclusion of gender-identity minorities in sports mainly adopt a qualitative approach and focus on Anglophone countries. This research is the first to provide a comprehensive picture of the experiences of LGBT+ athletes in organized sports settings in Europe and is based on a quantitative online survey (
= 2,282). The current paper draws special attention to differences between cisgender and non-cisgender athletes (including transgender men, transgender women, non-binary, and non-identifying individuals). Besides athletes' experiences, organizational strategies of inclusion, derived from qualitative interviews with stakeholders from sport systems in five European countries (Germany, Scotland, Austria, Italy, and Hungary) are examined. Theoretically anchored in Cunningham's (2012) multilevel model for understanding the experiences of LGBT+ individuals and Meyer's (2003) minority stress model, the paper aims to (1) analyze the assessment of transnegativity and (2) examine negative experiences (prevalence, forms, perpetrators) of LGBT+ athletes from organized sport contexts in Europe; and (3) discuss inclusive strategies in sports organizations in Europe. Data reveal that transnegativity is perceived as a major problem in European sports, and non-cisgender athletes are the most vulnerable group, suffering particularly from structural discrimination. The implementation of inclusive strategies for non-cisgender athletes is perceived as a complex and essential task, but the sports organizations in the five countries differ substantially in terms of the status of implementation.
Purpose: The coronavirus has posed significant challenges to organizations' talent management systems. Therefore, a model for talent management of sports organizations has been designed and validated ...to adapt to this situation.Methodology: This research is mixed (qualitative-quantitative) in terms of applied purpose and collection method. This study's statistical population comprised experts in sports management at the university, many implementations, and the Ministry of Sports and Youth staff. The purposive sampling method was used for qualitative sampling, and sampling continued until the theoretical saturation was reached; based on this, 15 interviews were conducted. In the quantitative section, 405 samples based on the number of parameters calculated in the qualitative area were randomly selected. Coding and confirmatory factor analysis were used to analyze the data: The structural-breath (ISM) method and ISM software.Findings: The results showed that talent management of sports organizations is a function of causal factors (strategic agility, diversity management, convergent innovation, flexibility maturity, business intelligence, electronic knowledge management), contextual (online learning and training, organizational transformation, digital transformation) And interventionist (globalization, turbulent atmosphere, global mobility) and by applying blockchain implementation strategies for selection and recruitment, electronic human resource management, strategic alignment and strategic identification of human capital, one can expect personal and organizational consequences. It was positive for sports organizations. Based on the obtained results, talent management in sports organizations is affected by causal, contextual, and intervening conditions, and in dealing with them, the mentioned organizations need a blockchain system for selection and employment. Plan and implement e-human resource management, strategic alignment, and strategic identification of human capital.Originality: One of the challenges of today's sports organizations is talent management. In this research, an attempt was made to provide a comprehensive model in this field with a comprehensive view and simultaneously with the outbreak of the Corona pandemic.
Dynamic business environment, rise in the share of overheads in total costs, strong competition on the global market and numerous other challenges that organizations are facing have imposed the need ...to reexamine the existing, design new costing methods and apply more appropriate management tools to improve management information basis, maintain and improve competitive advantage. In addition to traditional costing methods, organizations apply the methods adapted to the changing business environment, such as Activity-Based Costing (ABC). The positive experiences of manufacturing organizations which apply activity-based costing have led to the expansion of ABC application among service organizations. Changes in cost accounting are in line with changes in performance measurement systems, all for the purpose of improving the functioning of organizations and successfully responding to the demands of a changing business environment. The paper analyzes the possibility of applying activity-based costing and Balanced Scorecard in sports organizations that provide a large number of specific services.
The objective of this research was to analyze the influence of the dimensions that enable the rating of service quality perceived by users of sport and health centers in the satisfaction they ...experience from the service received. In order to present the working hypothesis, a bibliographic review on the concept and dimensions of perceived service quality was carried out, as well as its relationship with satisfaction. The rating scale sports organizations (EPOD) was used as a measurement instrument. The application of a regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses. As a prior step, the measurement scales were validated and an exploratory factor analysis was applied to determine the structure of the variables considered. The regression models proposed show the joint influence of the dimensions used by the users to rate perceived service quality in their satisfaction. The results enabled us to observe that the dimensions considered in the model explained 75.7% of satisfaction, with the facilities and material, together with communication and activities, having the most significant influence on satisfaction. Meanwhile, dimensions that had less impact were the monitor and the staff. It is clear that there is a strong correlation between perceived quality and satisfaction with service.
Coaches play a vital role in providing sports programs. Investing in formal coach education can serve to increase coaches’ human capital, which in turn, has a positive effect on their coaching ...practice. The present study investigates factors influencing coaches’ intention to get training for their coaching activity on an individual and organizational level. Nationwide online surveys were conducted in Germany on both nonprofit sports clubs and coaches being active within these clubs. Data were analyzed using multilevel regression analysis on a sample of
n
= 2,384 coaches in
n
= 1,274 clubs. Results show that especially the expiring validity of the coaching license, aspects of personal development, and low transaction costs are crucial factors for the intention to obtain a qualification. The results lead to several implications for theory and practice. Clubs could enhance the qualification intention and, thereby, the quality of sports programs by appointing a contact person who informs about qualification possibilities.
Building on the body of research that has addressed the experiences of female coaches, the present study examines women’s role as coach developers. English football served as the context for the ...research. Figures demonstrate women are underrepresented in this role more so than they are as coaches, and their distribution across the coach developer pathway is unevenly balanced, with most women qualified at Level I of the pathway. Using the concept of ‘organizational fit’, the research connects the experiences of the 10 coach developers interviewed, to the structural practices of their national and local governing bodies. These practices were symptomatic of the organizations’ culture that is created and upheld by masculine ideals. Work expectations and the environment were structured on the image of men as coaches and coach developers. Cultural barriers to women’s sense of organizational fit were specifically found to be: the incentive to progress (return on investment from higher coaching qualifications), the degree of organizational support and nurture, and the opportunity to progress and practice. Consequently, organizational expectations and values do not support the ambitions of women to climb the coach developer career ladder, and restrict their sense of choice and control. Future research should direct its attention towards a greater interrogation of aspects of sport organizational culture that may serve to ‘push’ female coaches away from its core, or alternatively, pull them closer to engage and make use of their expertise and abilities as coach developers.
These days, improving students’ learning and work efficiency needs a comprehensive approach to their physical and mental well-being, which emphasizes the critical role of teachers and institutions. ...To optimize the responsibilities of physical teachers and coaches, efficient administration of physical education, including sports activities, and a strong quality assurance system are required. Based on the above, this paper proposes an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based sports management system to enhance work efficiency and ease of physical education teachers and coaches. It aims to make an in-depth study on the construction of sports performance management and physical analysis system based on data mining; later, it includes the construction of sports management systems. This paper operates in such a way that it first discusses the sports performance management and physical analysis system's construction. Second, it analyses the overall framework structure of the system by presenting a detailed description of the sports test management and test items management. In addition, it analyses sports performance management and sports performance, system management and physical performance and other functional modules contained in the system along with the database design in the system based on C4.5 that is then used as the Decision Tree (DT) Classifier for data mining. Third, it uses sports performance management of DT, and the physical analysis algorithm uses the data information gained to select the split attributes. Fourth, it divides the sports performance training data set into multiple sub-datasets to construct the performance management and physical analysis system based on data mining. Finally, the suggested system is compared with existing approaches and obtains an accuracy of 97%, which is 27% high than the selected approaches. Simulation experiments show that the proposed method has high accuracy in data mining related to sports performance and can effectively improve the efficiency and quality of physical education teachers. The proposed system will be an addition to intelligent task management with high feasibility and accuracy.
•Competition is investigated from the perspective of non-profit sports clubs.•The majority of non-profit sports clubs report to be unaffected by competition from commercial sports ...providers.•Especially clubs offering health sports see themselves in competition to commercial sports providers.•Competition can present clubs with challenges in terms of price and costs for instructors.•Organizational characteristics need to be considered in analyzing strategies in the non-profit sports market.
The purpose of the study was to investigate if non-profit sports clubs are affected by the growth of the commercial market and, if so, which clubs are affected and why. The authors employed a mixed-method design, collecting quantitative data from a sample of 4456 non-profit sports clubs in Germany and then conducting a follow-up qualitative study including semi-structured interviews with 6 sports clubs. Descriptive results showed that 35.3% of clubs perceived competition from commercial sports providers as a problem. The logistic regression analysis revealed that clubs offering sports for health and fitness, rehabilitation sports, martial arts, and dancing are more likely to perceive competition as a problem. Clubs aiming at social integration are also more likely to report a problem, while clubs following a strategic management approach are less likely to be affected by competition. The interviews unveiled that the reasons for competition are the different types of sports offered, financial aspects, characteristics of clubs, and markets. The findings suggest that organizational characteristics and types of sports offered are better suited as strategic group variables in the sports market than organizational strategies. Measures to counteract competition include the use of strategic management principles, cooperative relationships with commercial providers, and quality and specialization of services.
