The article aims to assess some selected solutions of the Polish government's programme "Solidarity of generations" SG designed to support economic activity among people aged 50+. It presents the ...results of a national survey conducted in the first half of 2012, mainly the outcomes of questionnaire interviews carried out with representative samples of people aged 45+ and employers. Studies under the name "Diagnosis of the current situation of females and males 50+ on the labour market in Poland D50+" were conducted within the project "Equal Opportunities in the Labour Market for People Aged 50+". In addition to standard methods of descriptive analysis and the assessment of relations, factor analysis is also used to identify the main types of activities advancing opportunities for people aged 45+. Some solutions of the government's programme, such as the protection of employees from dismissal during the last four years before their retirement, were sometimes evaluated very differently by employers and people aged 45+. At the same time, both employers and people aged 45+ were favourable about free training and public subsidies to set up jobs for an unemployed persons aged 50+. According to the factor analysis results, the most important activities for people aged 45+ to have equal opportunities in the labour market are those activities that directly improve their qualifications. Although this finding is endorsed by both employers and people aged 45+, the insufficient systemic support for life-long learning limits the number of opportunities they could use to increase their employment activity. The variety of evaluations presented by the beneficiaries of the government programme should be taken into account in planning its modification.

Extracting knowledge and features from a large amount of remote sensing images has become highly required recent years. Spatio-temporal data mining techniques are studied to discover knowledge from ...these images in order to provide more precise weather prediction. Two learning granularities have been proposed for inductive learning from spatial data: one is spatial object granularity and the other is pixel granularity. In this paper, we propose a pixel granularity based framework to extract useful knowledge from the remote sensing image database by using SOM and association rules mining. A three-stage algorithm, named as Starsi, is also proposed and used in this framework.

Preventive police action in ...Zielona Gora, after a series of attacks on elderly women.
The aging process of societies carries a number of social and economic consequences. The growing importance of older people in society is most often analyzed in the context of threats to public ...finances, pension systems and institutions of medical and social care, resulting primarily from the growing demographic load index. Increasingly, the impact of the increase in the share of people of post-working age on the functioning of the labor market and individual segments of the consumer goods market is also being diagnosed. The aim of the study is to examine the interrelationships between older workers and aging buyers in the perspective of demographic change. The benchmark of analysis is the relations occurring in the consumer goods market. Aging consumers pose an important challenge for both markets and enterprises operating on them. The changes include, in particular, reorientations on the growing needs of older buyers, related to their age, but above all the lifestyle. One of the areas of necessary adjustments is the personal policy of enterprises, referring to the full use of the potential of older workers. To achieve such a specific goal, literature studies were made and lessons learned based on basic statistical tools. The study concerns three key areas. The first two: the importance of older people on the labor market and the determinants of older consumers' behavior are the basis on which consideration was built over the relationship between the aging phenomenon of consumers and the role of older workers in enterprises. The main findings confirm the existence of an important relationship between the growing importance of older people as consumers, especially taking into account the growing and specific needs, and the desire to satisfy them by producers of consumer goods and services. One of the basic conclusions is also the high heterogeneity of older consumers, and what is associated with it - the diversity of their consumption behavior. Companies in the perspective of aging of societies are subject to internal pressure, on the part of employees, and external - consumers. An effective tool for answering new challenges is the personal policy of enterprises. The article discusses two basic functions performed by managing older employees in an organization: adaptive, using the knowledge and experience of this age group employed to adapt the offer to the needs of aging consumers, and a business - promotional function, creating the company’s image as a producer, positive service provider and employer, open to the elderly. The work is descriptive and begins a discussion on the issue of interdependence between the two markets in Poland, rarely discussed in research.
