In monitoring scenarios for material processing and accident status evaluation, high-speed X-ray imaging at the microsecond or even nanosecond level is utilized. Real-time, long-term high speed x-ray ...image processing is difficult to realize with existing technology; main limitations are detector system structure and the need for high-speed transfer and storage of a large number of digital signals. Therefore, this paper proposes an irradiated photoelectric neural network for high-speed real-time X-ray image recognition based on a pixelated radiation detector. We use a SiPM coupled scintillator to realize this pixelated radiation detector. The weights of a neural network are mapped to the bias voltage of SiPM pixels, so that the SiPM array itself constitutes a neural network. By analyzing the output signals of an array of SiPMs, X-ray image can be recognized in real-time. The whole process does not involve complicated digital circuits and digital signal processing. The feasibility of the method was verified by experiments. As the initial stage of the study, we achieved an X-ray image recognition speed of 500,000 frames per second. The simplicity and innovation of this detector fully demonstrate its future application prospects. It is especially suitable for applications that require long-term continuous monitoring of radiographic images and immediate feedback of results, such as online monitoring of high-speed material processing, observation of the cosmic environment and other continuously changing scenes of X-ray images.

This paper ...presents a computer vision system that successfully discriminates between weed patches and crop rows under uncontrolled lighting in real-time. The system consists of two independent subsystems, a fast image processing delivering results in real-time (Fast Image Processing,
FIP), and a slower and more accurate processing (Robust Crop Row Detection,
RCRD) that is used to correct the first subsystem’s mistakes. This combination produces a system that achieves very good results under a wide variety of conditions. Tested on several maize videos taken of different fields and during different years, the system successfully detects an average of 95% of weeds and 80% of crops under different illumination, soil humidity and weed/crop growth conditions. Moreover, the system has been shown to produce acceptable results even under very difficult conditions, such as in the presence of dramatic sowing errors or abrupt camera movements. The computer vision system has been developed for integration into a treatment system because the ideal setup for any weed sprayer system would include a tool that could provide information on the weeds and crops present at each point in real-time, while the tractor mounting the spraying bar is moving.
Weak over-the-horizon perception and blind spot are the main problems in intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs). In this paper, a V2V image transmission-based road condition warning method is proposed ...to solve them. The encoded road emergency images which are collected by the ICV are transmitted to the on-board unit (OBU) through Ethernet. The OBU broadcasts the fragmented image information including location and clock of the vehicle to other OBUs. To satisfy the channel quality of the V2X communication in different times, the optimal fragment length is selected by the OBU to process the image information. Then, according to the position and clock information of the remote vehicles, OBU of the receiver selects valid messages to decode the image information which will help the receiver to extend the perceptual field. The experimental results show that our method has an average packet loss rate of 0.5%. The transmission delay is about 51.59 ms in low-speed driving scenarios, which can provide drivers with timely and reliable warnings of the road conditions.
Eliminating noise from a color image represents an essential task in image processing, given that noise can markedly diminish visual quality and impact the precision of subsequent analyses or ...applications (such as visual quality inspection, medical image analysis, etc.). In this study, we introduce an innovative approach designed to remove noise while preserving the edges and fine details of a color image. This method is based on Laplacian operators, threshold values for identifying potentially corrupted pixels due to noise, and the Vector Directional Filter (VDF) for substituting noisy pixels. Consequently, this technique is termed Laplacian VDF (LVDF). Additionally, a Hardware/Software (HW/SW) design is formulated for the real-time implementation of the LVDF filter. The hardware architecture is designed through the High-Level Synthesis (HLS) flow, while the software component is executed using the ARM Cortex-A53 hardcore processor. Furthermore, five Direct Memory Access (DMAs) are employed to enhance data throughput between the hardware coprocessor and Double Data Rate (DDR) memory. Performance evaluations conducted on the ZCU102 kit reveal that the LVDF HW/SW design facilitates the restoration of 74 images per second, resulting in a 94 % reduction in execution time compared to the software implementation, all while maintaining consistent objective and subjective image quality.

We developed an optical flow-based method for tracking treadmill ball motion in real time using a single high-resolution camera.
Tracking accuracy and timing were determined using calibration data. Ball tracking was performed at 500 Hz and integrated with an open source game engine for virtual reality projection. The projection was updated at 120 Hz with a latency with respect to ball motion of 30 ± 8 ms. The system was tested for behavior with fruit flies. Optical flow-based tracking of treadmill motion is typically achieved using optical mice. The camera-based optical flow tracking system developed here is based on off-the-shelf components and offers control over the image acquisition and processing parameters. This results in flexibility with respect to tracking conditions – such as ball surface texture, lighting conditions, or ball size – as well as camera alignment and calibration.

Recent technical advances in the computer-vision domain have facilitated the development of various methods for achieving image-based quantification of stomata-related traits. However, the ...installation cost of such a system and the difficulties of operating it on-site have been hurdles for experimental biologists. Here, we present a platform that allows real-time stomata detection during microscopic observation. The proposed system consists of a deep neural network model-based stomata detector and an upright microscope connected to a USB camera and a graphics processing unit (GPU)-supported single-board computer. All the hardware components are commercially available at common electronic commerce stores at a reasonable price. Moreover, the machine-learning model is prepared based on freely available cloud services. This approach allows users to set up a phenotyping platform at low cost. As a proof of concept, we trained our model to detect dumbbell-shaped stomata from wheat leaf imprints. Using this platform, we collected a comprehensive range of stomatal phenotypes from wheat leaves. We confirmed notable differences in stomatal density (
) between adaxial and abaxial surfaces and in stomatal size (
) between wheat-related species of different ploidy. Utilizing such a platform is expected to accelerate research that involves all aspects of stomata phenotyping.

This essay finds inspiration in Manuel Asensi’s sabotage criticism in order to analyze Pere Gimferrer’s poetry collections La muerte en Beverly Hills and De “Extraña Fruta” y otros poemas. Gimferrer’s early poems anticipate a plethora of Spanish literary and filmic works that draw on mechanically reproduced (in terms of Walter Benjamin) art –specifically jazz records and classic film noir– in order to model subjects and actions antithetical to historical fascism. The modeling of new subjects is achieved through an affective identification (which Asensi terms affept) facilitated by a non-chronological experience of time associated with cinema. This poetry conveys a model of the world concerned with the historical subaltern struggling to find his or her voice.
The MobileNetV3 is specially designed for mobile devices with limited memory and computing power. To reduce the network parameters and improve the network inference speed, a new lightweight network ...is proposed based on MobileNetV3. Firstly, to reduce the computation of residual blocks, a partial residual structure is designed by dividing the input feature maps into two parts. The designed partial residual structure is used to replace the residual block in MobileNetV3. Secondly, a dual-path feature extraction structure is designed to further reduce the computation of MobileNetV3. Different convolution kernel sizes are used in the two paths to extract feature maps with different sizes. Besides, a transition layer is also designed for fusing features to reduce the influence of the new structure on accuracy. The CIFAR-100 dataset and Image Net dataset are used to test the performance of the proposed partial residual structure. The ResNet based on the proposed partial residual structure has smaller parameters and FLOPs than the original ResNet. The performance of improved MobileNetV3 is tested on CIFAR-10, CIFAR-100 and ImageNet image classification task dataset. Comparing MobileNetV3, GhostNet and MobileNetV2, the improved MobileNetV3 has smaller parameters and FLOPs. Besides, the improved MobileNetV3 is also tested on CPU and Raspberry Pi. This article focuses on the most recent writings of Don DeLillo, and in particular it analyzes three of DeLillo’s later works, namely The Body Artist, Point Omega and Zero K, as examples of a more ...meditative and reflective attitude towards the themes of time and image in his recent production. By studying how these books present the reader with a sort of suspended narrative time, I will read them in the light of concepts and notions drawn from the philosophy of Henri Bergson and Gilles Deleuze, in particular Bergsonian duration and Deleuze’s idea of the time-image. Reading DeLillo’s recent novels according to this philosophical framework enables one to consider the implications his writing draws between time and images in configuring the perception of time as an almost physical, substantial and non-subjective whole to be sensed and described through narrative and figurative strategies.
