Mileage correction of track data can directly affect the evaluation of railway management personnel on track diseases. In this paper, the construction of background value, the selection of initial value and the optimization model of weight proportion direction of detection data are applied to capture the trend change law of track shape with greater advantages. In the part of stochastic term development, BP neural network model is introduced to modify the residual sequence of track irregularity. The final experimental results show that the relative prediction error of the proposed model is reduced by 18. 2% and 15. 7% respectively, compared with the single gray model. The validity and robustness of the model are verified. The improved track irregularity prediction model has good prediction accuracy, and the preventive maintenance decision scheme of railway tracks can be realized according to the model.
Rail geometry defects constitute a major cause of accidents in the United States. Geometry related accidents are often very severe and damaging. While rail geometry-caused derailments continue to ...rise according to Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) data, track quality analysis remain effectively unchanged. The use of TQI or track quality index takes a narrow view of track assessment by focusing on quality without considering safety. The bipartite analysis of track quality and safety results into two maintenance types: routine and corrective maintenance respectively. This study aims to create a hybrid index that combines both element of safety and geometry quality to predict only one maintenance regime based on track condition. It is an initial step towards the big picture of creating indices that will be iterated based on maintenance savings and defect probability thresholds. This study employs a linear and nonlinear dimension reduction technique that expresses the probability distribution of observations based on the similarity or dissimilarity in their embedded space whilst also maximizing the variance in data. This study found application in principal component analysis (PCA) and T-Stochastic neighbor embedding (TSNE) for separating geometry defects from higher dimensional space to lower dimensions. Results show that while both techniques effectively reduces track geometry data, PCA yields a potential defect probability threshold in spite of TSNE being a better geometry defect predictor.

In recent years, the tram market has developed rapidly, and it is increasingly important to evaluate the safety detection and overall smoothness of the relevant lines. However, most of the relevant ...tests are in the stage of manual detection with low detection efficiency and low accuracy. In this paper, a set of algorithm for TQI of tram was developed. First, the weight coefficient distribution of track irregularity parameters in the traditional TQI model was improved by analytic hierarchy process. The massive track detection data were trained into a comprehensive prediction model by using big data technology, and the calculation and prediction of TQI of modern tram were realized, which provided a new idea and method for the modern track detection and evaluation method of tram.
In recent years, the development of modern tram is rapid. In order to guarantee the long-term stable and safe operation of tram, predicting the overall condition of the relevant running lines and ...guiding the track maintenance are increasingly important. Nevertheless, due to the limitation of data mining and analysis technology, the analysis and application level of modern tramcar track detection data and the prediction level of the overall status of the track are relatively backward in China. Based on the analysis of geometric parameters of original track detection in the section of track quality index (TQI), this paper proposes a set of overall situation prediction model, which is based on the improved vector machine (SVM), and implements the analysis and prediction of TQI change. Meantime this prediction model can provide a new evaluation thought for the overall situation of modern tram track.
The tracking of airborne targets from low-cost Internet of Things (IoT) sensors, such as radars, is a problem of increasing interest due to the proliferation of drones. Such low-cost IoT sensors have ...problems with sensor bias and poor signal quality which may impact detection and tracking performance. In this paper, we investigate the impact of sensor imperfections on tracking performance. In particular, we consider the scenario of two ground-based sensors measuring the elevation/bearing/range of three airborne targets in clutter. The measurement uncertainty of the second sensor was altered between test cases to emulate sensor bias, then the results of the multi-target tracking algorithm were compared using the Generalized Optimal Sub-Pattern Assignment, Single Integrated Air Picture, and uncertainty metrics. Results indicate that bias in the range measurement tends to decrease the track's robustness against clutter. A sensor with equally poor performance in the elevation/bearing/range measurements scored the lowest in all investigated metrics. The clutter density parameter of the investigated multi-target tracking problem, the Joint Probabilistic Data Association filter, was altered and found to have nearly negligible effect on the track quality.
Track irregularities have a significant effect on ride quality and traffic safety. The inspection of track irregularity mainly relies on special track inspection car which has a high cost and long ...inspection period in China. In this paper, a simple method, which can be used on the ordinary train as a good complement to track inspection car, is proposed to on-line estimate the track status. Track quality index (TQI), which is an important evaluation index of line inspection in Chinese railway system, can be estimated by analyzing the vibration of car-body. Some features, including four from time-domain and eight from frequency-domain, are extracted from lateral and vertical acceleration of car-body to regress TQI value by multiple linear regression method A CRH2 trailer car dynamics simulation model is built to verify our method. The effectiveness of the method is verified by simulation experiments with actual track irregularity data in Beijing-Guangzhou line, as all the estimated TQI values are consistent with the actual values.

Under sleeper pads appear to be suitable measure to improve track quality as a consequence of ballast bed protection against extreme stress. The paper comprises experience of under sleeper pads ...applications in the Czech Republic in two test sections which were built in the Czech Republic in 2007. The tests sections were built with the aim to protect permanent way elements against extremely high dynamic loading. That is why all parameters which could be influenced by the application of USPs are assessed, especially track quality, deflection and vibration of sleepers and bearers. Some positive influence of under sleeper pads on the track quality was observed after six years of monitoring. Extension of the application of under sleeper pads is expected in the Czech Republic especially for switches and crossings.
The implementation of High Speed Railway (HSR) networks involves a large amount of financial support imposing, not only at the conception and design level, but also during the line operation, a ...demanding, a complete, and a rigorous estimation of the total cost involved in the life cycle of the system. By using appropriate tools for estimating HSR life cycle costs (LCC), it is possible to minimize the final cost and, at the same time, to identify the most important aspects and parameters influencing the cost evaluation. Research, therefore, is not only required on the LCC modeling, but also on the estimation of major degradation factors and in the assessment of its impact on the maintenance needs. This paper deals with this former aspect. The various methodologies for evaluating the geometrical track quality are presented and compared to each other, namely the J Synthetic Coefficient, the Indian TGI and also the approach presented in the European Standard EN 13848-5. In order to compare these three methodologies, they are applied to a railway stretch of the Portuguese Northern Railway Line. By doing so, the prediction of track degradation rate within the period of research can be determined, which possibly is used in the future for defining cost-effective maintenance strategies.

Aimed at accurately selecting data source in calculation of track association, the track quality(TQ) assessment method based on two-points extrapolate is studied. The method takes into account the ...influencing impact of the TQ calculation including platform navigation error, the radar measurement error and extrapolation error. The simulation results of various types of error on the TQ calculation are analyzed. It is verified that the method is simple and feasible, be able to accurately evaluate TQ and be able to adapt to different platforms and different sensor requirements.
