The vegetation of thermophilic trampled habitats was sampled in the Bay of Kvarner according to the standard procedures of the Braun- Blanquet method. The following associations were determined: ...Polycarpo-Amaranthetum deflexi Pignatti 1953, Euphorbio-Oxalidetum corniculatae Lorenzoni 1964, Euphorbietum maculatae Poldini 1989, Eleusinetum indicae Pignatti 1953. Among them a new association was described: Catapodio loliacei-Herniarietum rotundifoliae ass. nova. The Euphorbia prostrata community, Trifolium repens community, and the Cynodon dactylon community were not assigned to the association. The ordination diagram (Princoor program) shows the main differences among the communities. On the first axis, there is a gradient from the most thermophilic Cynodontetum dactylon comm. and Catapodio-Herniarietum to the more mesophilous and less trampled Polycarpo-Amaranthetum and Cynodon dactylon community to all other communities with more Eragrostietalia elements.
The ruderal vegetation of differently used farmyards in the village of Lonja (Lonjsko Polje Nature Park) was studied. Floristic-structural (species, plant formations) and physiognomic-structural ...(life forms) characteristics show how changes in the use of former farmyards, for example their abandonment or being used for leisure, influence the ruderal vegetation. It appears, that changes in vegetation structure over a period of 10 to 15 years are much more quantitative than qualitative. Besides this, a new, easy, calculated index for the comparison of the homogeneity of collections of vegetation releves is presented.
The vegetation succession was surveyed on two permanent plots in eastern Croatia in the period 1978—1991. One of these plots started from an abandoned pasture, the other from arable land. Although ...they were geographically very near each other, vegetation develops toward different wood communities on these plots, due to different ecological conditions. After fourteen years the vegetation reached nearly the same stage as the wood vegetation, considering the number of woody individuals as well as their height and cover.
