AbstractThis study reviews the literature to determine how cognitive factors affect consumers’ value perception and video streaming platform subscription intentions. This study analyses 20 Scopus and ...Web of Science peer-reviewed articles to examine the complex relationship between cognitive factors, perceived value and users’ decision-making. The cognitive factors perceived quality, content relevance, variety, enjoyment, cost-benefit ratio, and personalization help explain how users value video streaming platforms. Analyzing these factors can reveal the complex mechanisms that influence users’ platform subscriptions. This has practical implications for industry professionals. The research shows that technical dependability, tailored content suggestions, a variety of content, emotionally engaging content, clear benefit communication, and adaptable experiences shape users’ value perceptions. The above implications are especially relevant in dynamic digital environments influenced by the global pandemic and technological advances. This study also advances consumer behavior theory. This study applies existing models and frameworks to video streaming platforms, adding to the literature. The findings of this study enhance perceived value theory, technology adoption models, personalization theories, and engagement frameworks. These findings improve our understanding of digital user behavior. The study’s narrow focus on cognitive factors and self-reported data are limitations, but it provides valuable insights. These limitations allow future research to explore unexplored areas and use new methods.

A variety of audio and video streaming platforms, equipped with streaming technology that supports instant usage of media resources in the process of downloading, have become a popular part of daily ...entertainments. Current researches on streaming platforms mostly focus on the technical dimension of streaming technology, with much less attention to the usability dimension of streaming operation. Nevertheless, issues concerning platform design and user-friendly operation are worthy of further exploration. This study selects four currently most popular audio and video streaming platforms as research subjects, including Spotify, Last.fm, YouTube, and Vimeo. To examine the usability of these platforms, 12 users were arranged to perform 16 tasks by alternatively applying streaming functions provided on the platforms. Their activities and self-report data are observed and analyzed. Research results indicate some drawbacks in streaming operations as well as users' expectation for streaming usability. Based on the research results, this study proposes some suggestions for improving streaming platform design, and furthermore configures a model of streaming platform that incorporates effective, efficient, enjoyable, and usable audio and video streaming services.
The current study aims to examine consumers' over-the-top (OTT) video streaming platform usage intention and apply the extended unified theory of acceptance and use of technology version 2 (UTAUT-2) ...to develop a holistic evaluation model. Specifically, a decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) approach was utilised to discover the determinants of OTT video streaming service selection. This study comprehensively analyses data collected from 498 users of an OTT video streaming platform. The research rigorously examines and validates the proposed research questions by utilising multiple attribute causality modelling. The findings demonstrated that the primary factors for platform improvements were performance and effort expectancies, with facilitating conditions, personal innovativeness, hedonic motivations, and social influences significantly impacting consumers’ preferences. The findings provided insights into OTT platform providers to acquire more subscribers while improving respective competitiveness. The study discusses both theoretical and practical implications in depth.
Social media have become an indispensable part of daily life, particularly among university students, who regularly browse social news feeds in their spare time. Due to their pervasiveness, social ...media platforms provide an opportunity for influencing user behavior and encouraging informal learning. In this paper, we present an experiment using an online video recommendation application designed to blend micro-informative content with general content according to user preferences and activity history. Based on a one-week study, we conclude that injecting micro-informative content into video streaming platforms has the potential to improve the perceived satisfaction of users and can act as a potential catalyst to motivate users to consume more informative content online.
The latest version and the use of video streaming platforms is increasing day by day, adding new ones. Competition is also increasing in the development of platforms for expanding film and TV series. ...The purpose of replicating these platforms is to achieve more, better quality on some platforms, and to keep them on one platform even better. Before that, film and TV series platforms use artificial intelligence algorithms. In this study, the aim is to create more attractive cover photos for the user by finding suitable frames from a movie or TV series and converting these frames into cover/thumbnail images on the platform. It is based on eliminating frames that are useless according to closed eyes, blurred frames or non-face images. Also, deep learning used for labeling images with objects and face's emotion and identity.

With the widespread adoption of mobile Internet, the process of streaming video has become varied and complex. A diversity of factors affect the way we perceive quality in video streaming (also known ...as 'quality of experience', or QoE), involving far more than the individual video and network characteristics. Quality is affected by the overall delivery context, terminal specifications but also human factors. It is thus very hard to control the streaming system as a whole, targeting QoE rather than the tuning of individual factors. To better understand the non-obvious relation between network parameters and the resulting video quality, herein we present an experimental assessment of a representative video streaming platform, Skype. We find that simple QoE-management heuristics are only effective in very specific cases (for instance in 'head & shoulder' video types), which suggests that a more human-centric QoE management will be required to further improve video delivery.
