  • Vloga narodnostne sestave prebivalstva v sodobnih socialno-gospodarskih in političnih procesih = The role of ethnic composition in the current socioeconomic and political processes
    Zupančič, Jernej, 1963-
Analysed is the etnic composition of Spodnje Podravje with Prlekija and its influence on the current socioeconomic processes. Approximately 95% of the population in this rather homogenous region are ... of Slovenian origin, while the majority of the non-Slovenian population consist of Croatians (about 1800) and Serbs (about 330). These are the immigrants of the first generation and they are concentrated in urban settlements. Almost no difference exists in socioeconomic structure between autochtonous Slovenians and the immigrants, except for Albanians: the latter are specialized in fruit-and vegetable market and patisseries, and they practically hold a monopoly over these two branches. However, as to its share, the non-Slovenian population neither represents any significant innovative agents in the socioeconomic structure ofthis region nor any greater potential conflicts.
