  • Postopki in zapleti zdravljenja zlomov spodnje čeljustnice = Methods and complicatioons of treatment of mandibular fractures
Gorjanc, Matija, 1969- ; Kansky, Andrej
Treatment methods and complication rates of fractures treated at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Ljubljana over two five-year periods are compared with data from medical ... literature. The majority of mandibular fractures were treated by closed methods, while wire ostheosynthesis was almost completely abandoned and replaced by open reposition and screw and plate fixation. Among complications, an increase of malocclusions was observed; this was probably due to the use of rigid stainless-steel osteosynthetic materials, as well as the surgeons' lack of experience. An increase in the use of semirigid open treatment methods is expected in the future.
