    This doctoral thesis deals with dimensional accuracy in micromilling of graphite electrodes. The systematic approach is used to quantify dimensional errors in machining process. An experimental ... procedure was used to improve positional accuracy of CNC machining center. Analytical models for surface roughness and tool deflection were developed. The influences such as cutting parameters and surface angles on surface roughness and tool deflection are investigated experimentally. Analytical and empirical model predictions are compared with experimental results and a good agreement is observed. In addition influences of experimentally determined parameters on tool deflection were defined to characterize the process behavior across a useful range of cutting conditions. Finally, based on the comparison of experimental parameters and parameters recommended by tool manufacturer, the productivity is proven to be drastically higher.
