  • Zdravljenje bolečine pri otroku z rakom = Pain relief in childhood cancer

    Pain is always a subjective experience influenced by complex and variable factors. In a child with cancer, pain could be disease-related, caused by anticancer treatment or due to diagnostic and ... therapeutic procedures. Expression of pain and the ability of children to describe their pain experience differs throughout their development. Non-pharmacological measures for pain relief are an integral part of pain treatment. Non-opioid analgesics are used for mild pain, opioids are needed to control moderate or severe pain.Sometimes adjuvant drugs should be included in therapy for adequate pain control or for the alleviation of other unpleasant symptoms. For effective pain relief health-care workers should have an adequate knowledge of pain control, and cooperation between different health-care services must be organized.
