  • Description of rheological properties of paints with empirical methods
    Tušar, Marjan ...
The rheological behaviour of paints, specially those with low molecular weight binders (high solid paints) is of great interest for paint producers due to the fact that the paints must exhibit ... precisely defined properties under the low shear stresses (good storage stability, no sagging and good levelling after the application) as well as at high shear stresses during the application. The viscosity profile during the curing of the coating is also the important factor that affect the quality of the paint. Pigment suspension exhibit very complex rheological behaviour and analyses of data are generally subdivided into various parts in order to define suitable models to describe either functional dependencies of shear stress, shear rate or temperature on viscosity at different solid volume fractions.
