  • Elektrokardiografske spremembe pri bolnikih z Erythema migrans
    Pikelj Pečnik, Andreja, 1969-
Lyme borreliosis is most frequently spread by tickćs bites and is the most common zoonosis discovered in our country at the incidence rate of 137ž100.000. It is caused by a bacteria called spirochete ... of Borrelia burgdorferi group sensu lato. Local infections can be followed by dissemination of spirochetes with concomitantly non-obligatory systemic disturbances in any organ including the heart. A heart disease can be registered as a conduction disturbances, as heart rhythm disorders, as myocarditis, as pericarditis or as dilatative cardiomyopathy. The most frequent manifestation of the Lyme carditis is heart conduction disturbances unrecognized by the patients. The research was aimed to establish electrocardiographic abnormalities in patients with erythema migrans and subsequently to discover eventual early comorbidity of the heart, wich is known and typical for disseminated borreliosis. In comparison with the clinical observations, this research offered unexpectedly poor results. The ECG changes were rare and almost did not differ in size and frequency from theoutcomes obtained in the healthy control group. Thus, we may conclude that the borrelia heart disease in early- localized infection is very rare or almost unlikely.
