    Introduction. Due to the numerous pre-hospital descriptive (development) scoring systems it is uncertain whether they are efficient in the decsription of how serious illnesses and injures are and, ... furthermore, whether they can have a prognostic role in the estimation of the illness outcome (what is theirvalidity in connection with the prognostic acoring system APACHE II), as well as what is the correlation difference between preinterventional and post-interventional values with clinical estimation.The aim of following prospective study was to research the applicability and value of MEES scoring system and establish the critical point which presents the vital affect of a patient. Methods and patients.The prospective study was curried out in the period from October 1996 to February 1998. It included 1666 (680 female and 986 male) hospitalized patients aged 16 or more (average age 47,7 +/- 15,5 years). The patients were divided into five diagnostical groups (acute respiratory insufficiency, acute chest pain, acute abdominal pain and gastroiintestinal tract hemorrhages, politrauma or multitrauma with shock andžor coma, non-traumatic coma. For all the patients, pre- and post- interventional the values of MEES and APACHE II were defined during the first day of hospitalization. For the group of traumatized patiens, the values of TSand CRAMS were also defined. Sensitivity, specificity and correct predictionoutcome were measured by the Chi-square method in four severity score. The Youden index was also obtained. The best cut-off point in each scoring system was determined by the Youden index. The difference in Youden index was calculated by Z score. A p value <=,05 was chosen to reject null hypotehsis.For each score Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve (ROC) were obtained. The comparison of the difference between the pre-interventional values of the scoring system with the clinical picture was carried out by the Chi-square test. (Abstract truncated at 2000 characters).
