  • Technical effects of increased electricity production from renewable energy sources
    Hlebčar, Brane
The general policy of the majority of EU countries support development of electricity generation from renewable energy sources. Countries applying for admission into EU shall have to adopt a similar ... policy, too. The principal target of this policy is to increase the share of renewable energy in the overall primary energy and to increase the overall effect of fossil fuel combustion. Attaining this target is supported by legally foreseen benefits, such as guaranteed purchase of electricity and fovourable purchase price of electricity. As the coastal region and islands of Croatia offer great potentials for wind plants and solar energy, it is quite reasonable to expect a considerable increase in the number of dispersed generation (DG) in future. This should be well taken into account in the planning and operating of distribution networks. The aim of this paper is to focus on some important technical issues expected to accompany the increase in the number of DG in Croatia.
