  • Children's rights in hospital : a literature review
Cilar Budler, Leona ; Stričević, Jadranka ; Haložan, David
Paediatric patients are particularly vulnerable population. Because of their age they are often not able to represent their rights when staying in hospital. Children who are admitted to hospital are ... often sad, confused and afraid. It is not known how human rights are understood and respected among paediatric nursing. Thus, a literature review was conducted in four international databases using inclusion and exclusion criteria. In literature search keywords in English were used. Out of 12 309 identified hits, only 5 were included in the final analysis. Included studies are discussing child and adolescents right to participate in decision making process while staying in hospital and right to confidentiality. More information about children%s rights in hospital must be given to the patients and relatives to ensure quality, holistic and person-centred care. In future, more research is needed to support child and adolescents' rights in hospital.
