  • Dynamic analysis of a test machine for simulation of actual fatigue of aluminium components under conditions of fretting and plane-reverse-bending

    Within the international project COPERNICUS our Research Group LAVEK designed a test machine for simulation of actual fatigue of aluminium components under conditions of fretting and ... plane-reverse-bending. During specimen testing, there were some additional loads, which caused the critical cross-section to move from the position under the clamp. These loads were caused by the machine mechanism for loads application that produced inertia forces and an additional bending moment. Dynamical analysis with finite elements of the test machine with the specimens were made to inspect and to remove the unwanted conditions, which occured during the measurements. A short preview of the dynamic analysis and its results is presented in this paper. Numerical investigations were compared with the measurements using the special load cell. The results of the investigations enabled us to make some geometrical modifications in the specimen supports in order to get the correct conditions of fretting fatigue.
