  • Kako daleč smo v diagnostiki latentne in aktivne tuberkuloze pri imunsko kompromitiranem bolniku?
    Žolnir-Dovč, Marija ; Svetina, Petra, 1971-
How far are we in the diagnosis of latent and active TB in immunocompromised patients? Immunocompromised persons are at increased risk for tuberculosis infection or reactivation of disease compared ... with the general population. Therefore, in such patients testing for the presence of latent tuberculosis (TB) is recommended. Tuberculin skin test (TST) has been the standard method for the diagnosis of latent tuberculosis (TB) for more than a century. During the last decade interferon y release assays (IGRAs) have replaced test TST for diagnosis of latent TB in countries with a low incidence of TB. IGRA tests could not distinguish between active and latent form of the disease and they don't detect all patients with latent or active TB. This problem is the most significant in immunocompromised patients. Therefore, remains diagnosis of TB still a major challenge for future years.
