  • TQM as a management approach for tool - making companies
    Dolinšek, Slavko ; Rozman, Miha
ǂThe ǂSlovenian Tool-making industry consists of companies in which the number of employees usually varies between 50 to 100, and therefore Tool-making companies could be considered as Small and ... Medium size Enterprises (SME). Some of them are highly technologically equipped (expensive machine tools and computer equipment), they are often managed by expert specialists, the production is organised as single production with an extremely short time between the placement of order and manufacture of the final product. In this paper, the existing organisational structures in Slovenian SME, and all deficiencies originating from present managerial approaches, are discussed. By presenting world experiences in introduction of Total Quality Management (TQM) principles to the SME, our purpose is to propose and discuss the benefits for and barriers to the implementation of the TQM in the Slovenian SME.
