  • The influence of the welding process on the formability of tailored blanks
Tušek, Janez, 1952- ; Kampuš, Zlatko
ǂThe ǂpaper deals with welding of tailored blanks made of various materials using various welding processes. The first part treats the welding processes most suitable to be used for welding of ... tailored blanks. There are two larger groups. The first group consists of the processes involving localized melting of the parent metal without the application of force and the second group of those in which the weld is made by the application of sufficient pressure to cause plastic flow of the faying surfaces. The second part of the paper describes practical welding of two tailored blanks made of different material shaving different thickness. The first material was austenitic stainless steel and the second low-alloy ferrite steel. The welding processes used were MIG welding with the addition of filler material and laser welding without the addition of filler material.
