  • Extended production flow analysis

    This paper discusses the experiences gained when production flow analysis (PFA) was applied to the identification of families of parts. The second phase of the standard procedure (i.e. group ... analysis) failed when suboptimal routings predominated within the database. The procedure is extended by use of a modified incidence matrix (MIM) and its utility is explained. Parallels between PFA and certain steps of CAPP are examined in the final section.
