  • Nonlinear predictive approach to control of the cutting process

    Nonlinear model predictive approach to control of the simulated chaotic cutting process is proposed. Neural networks are used to build a nonlinear experimental model of the process and a robust ... genetic algorithm based optimizer is applied for the optimization of control trajectories. The dynamics of a cutting process are very complex due to the designed to prevent tool oscillations which result in the rough surface of the workpiece. The simulated results show considerable improvement of the manufacturing quality obtained by the proposed nonlinear model predictive control.
