  • Kontrastivna analiza posledičnih in vzorčnih povezovalcev v časopisnih besedilih [Elektronski vir] : diplomsko delo
    Antončič, Neja
The aim of this diploma thesis entitled A contrastive analysis of Slovene and French connectives appearing in newspaper articles is to present connectives. Connectives are words which contribute to ... the cohesion of the text. They provide the reader with signposts indicating how the text is developing. They explicitly establish a certain meaning between two parts of the text. An especial emphasize is put on causal and consecutive connectives. In the discourse, both groups of connectives are involved in the process of arguing, a coherent series of statements leading from a premise to a conclusion. For the purpose of the contrastive analysis three corpuses were made - one in Slovene, one in French and one parallel corpus - having for source newspaper articles from the Slovene daily Delo, the French daily Le Monde and the monthly Le Monde diplomatique. On the basis of these three corpuses a presentation of the most commonly used Slovene (ker, saj, namreč, torej, zato) and French (parce que, puisque, car, donc, alors) causal and consecutive connectives was given with the emphasis on the definition of theirmeaning on the pragmatic level, that is, their meaning in the context. Such examination led to establishing similarities and dissimilarities between them, on the basis of which we discussed translation equivalents for the most commonly used connectives in the analysed discourse.
