  • Gedächtnis, Erinnerung und Emotion : Jugoslawienkriege in der Literatur, ein Gedankenexperiment über Erinnerung und Emotion
    Welebil, Angelika
This article analyses the interrelation between memories and emotions on the basis of three different literary works. First, the author briefly summarizes the theory of cultural memory and ... remembering, which in German Studies has been especially formed by Aleida Assmann, and its interdependence with emotions. The second part focuses on the novels Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern ("The Girl with the Matches") by Zoran Ferić, Schussangst ("Gun-Shy") by Dirk Kurbjuweit, and Archive der Nacht ("The Archive of the Night") by Igor Štiks. The authors do not have anything in common, but all three novels take place during the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s and deal with them in one way or another. With the help of the theory explained early in the article, the author describes how these three novels are about remembering and emotions, and analyses the diverse ways of remembering and writing about remembering through a text-immanent approach.
