    Personalized medicine is a cutting-edge medical approach that introduces patient-tailored treatment. Inkjet printing is recognized as a promising technology for manufacturing oromucosal film ... preparations with an accurately adjusted dose. Many recent studies have confirmed its suitability for the preparation of personalized orodispersible and buccal films. However, many technological questions have not been addressed so far. Particularly, one unpredictable process-related issue makes printing unreliable for pharmaceutical applications. Having one or more nozzle clogged (blocked) results in dose deviation (deficit), as the ink ejection is suddenly stopped. Regarding this, the thesis was dedicated to develop monitoring of printing operation to trace and reveal jetting problems caused by nozzle blockade. Visual inspection of a specially developed pattern was suggested, for which each part of the pattern was assigned to the certain nozzle in the printhead. Such rearrangement was achieved with editing the printer's software background using extensible meta language. Furthermore, the question of medicine identification was solved, as the machine-readable code (barcode) was selected as a convenient pattern. Additionally, the thesis answers on the question how to achieve satisfying graphic print quality of printed orodispersible (drug) pattern to achieve reliable quality control of individualized dosage form. With printing patterns using edible commercial ink onto commercial substrates, the impact of process parameters and substrate selection were discussed. Furthermore, the importance of code size in correlation to number of encoded digit and readability was also emphasized.
