    The paper presents the most relevant characteristics of the new criminal law and criminal policy concept, known in anglophone literature as "restorative justice". It first points to the heterogeneous ... foundations of restorative justice, then demostrates by means of a table the differences between restorative and classical (above all retributive) concepts used in criminal law. Among the differences which are significant for the understanding of the most important characteristics of restorative justice, the author highlights the concept of a criminal offence, views on the causes of crime, the aim of criminal procedure, the role of parties in a criminal procedure, approaches to resolving conflicts and the concept of justice.
