  • Telesna aktivnost v sekundarni preventivi ateroskleroze = Physical activity in secondary prevention of atherosclerosis
    Gužič-Salobir, Barbara
Regular physical activity has an important role in the prevention and treatment of atherosclerotic disease with its main clinical complications (coronary heart disease, arterial occlusive disease and ... stroke). It is well known that regular intensive training reduces the morbidity and mortality fromthese diseases. However, it has been shown in recent studies that even less intensive training could be protective. Regular physical activity is a mainstay of rehabilitation of patients after myocardial infarction, it should be the initial management of patients with intermittent claudication and it improves quality of life after stroke. Therefore, we should encourage patientswith these diseases to perform regular training .
