  • Končna obnova občutljivosti in vegetativne funkcije po makroreplantacijah zgornjih udov = End-stage recovery of sensation and vegetative function after upper limb macroreplantations
    Ahčan, Uroš ...
Background. Estimation of long-term functional results after macroreplantation of the upper extremity is mostly based on subjective opinions of the surgeonand patient. The literature contains no ... accurate objective data on the end-stage sudomotor and sensory recovery. Methods. The end-stage sudomotor and sensory using quantitative electrophysiological investigations (recovery of sensory nerve action potentials - SNAP and sympathetic skin response - SSR), the ninhydrin test and clinical testing of sensory regeneration (light touch, pain, static and dynamic two-point discrimination). 8 adult patients aged 8-56 years (mean 30.5 years) were examined 5-13 years (mean 7.7 years) after injury and macroreplantation. Conclusions. The results show worse sudomotor and sensory recovery when compared to microreplantation or isolated nerve injury. Return of sweating andsensation were different in term of quality in different zones of the palmar surface of the hand. Areas of deficient sweating corresponded to areas of sensation impairment. Expanded regeneration from neighbouring nerve is limited. Results from our microsurgical centre did not differ from results of other microsurgical centres.
