    School and public libraries can complement each other very succesfully. They both have an important role for the development of a young reader who in the era of mass media makes very great ... pretensions. Adolescent's attitude to reading, libraries, reading development and typology of readers based on theoretical starting point as well as analysis of reading, visit and borrowing from the school library and public library is shown in this diploma work. 148 boys and girls at the age of 14 to 15 were surveyed anonymmously in both types of libraries in Ledina Primary School Library and Public Library Bežigrad. They were given 30 detailed questions with the aim to find out the adolescent's attitude to reading, libraries in general and particulary their attitude to school and public libraries, the frequency and the cause of their visit, what their reading habits are, what they like to read most and in what way they express their wish for a computer in a library as well as the needs and expectations of the above mentioned group of children. The research is meant to be of a great help to other librarians, especially when dealing with above mentioned age group users. The young of that age group still have a postivie attitude to reading and libraries and they visit public libraries frequently enough which is not the case with the school libraries. They mostly visit them to borrow books for the obligatory school reading. A great wish to have computers in the library is expressed from their part, not only to look over the materials of the library but also to make the best of all other possibilities offered by computers.
