  • Entrepreneurial networks and multiplexity of exchange content : past, present and future research [Elektronski vir]

    The focus of this study is a review of the entrepreneurial networks based research with a special emphasis on the content of exchange within networks. The emphasis is also given to the evolvement of ... the concept of network multiplexity, which has been recognized beneficial for firm performance in past research. The network-based research is classified with regard to two dimensions. The first dimension comprehends the content of exchange within network members: 1) resources, 2) information, 3) moral support and liking, and 4) multiplexity of exchange content; while the second dimension is focusedon the type of network members: 1) personal networks (individuals), 2) inter-organizational networks (organizations), 3) combination of personal and inter-organizational networks. Through the analysis of past research we made acontribution to the theory of entrepreneurial networking by analyzing the evolvement of network-based research. The research results indicate that the future research has to focus on: 1) longitudinal studies, 2) multiple relationships on the individual level and inter-organizational level, 3) developing measures for network multiplexity, 3) analyzing the linkage between network multiplexity and firm performance.
