  • The state and development of educational technology in the digital age

    The trends of development in education are that didactic functions, which used to be performed exclusively by teachers, are increasingly transferred to non-personal multimedia systems whose technical ... basis are digital educational technologies. This paper discusses some didactic aspects of multimedia technologies and their impact on the quality of the learning process. The author discusses some of the most important didactic functions of the media and notes that the new multimedia technologies have given schools many incentives for innovative pedagogical work and important levers for improving the quality of the learning process. The author also defines the stages of media development, the terminological evolution of the term multimedia, and the main characteristics of multimedia digital educational technologies, such as their connection with computer technology, their integrativity, interactivity, communicativeness and multifunctionality. He notes that the equipment of schools with modern digital educational technologies is adequate, improved and supplemented especially in the last two years. However, the digital skills of teachers and students are insufficient, which means that digital literacy is weak. Certainly, in the future, a special didactics for the use of modern digital systems must be developed and more strongly connected with the latest findings about the possibilities of using virtual technologies for educational purposes.
