This paper discusses the software support of the process of managing intellectual property in the SME company whose core business is software development for digital television, smart homes, set-top boxes and automotive industries as well as research projects in digital television and multimedia systems. Mentioned software support includes a system for the management of patents as a primary form of intellectual property. The system includes client-server architecture, whereby client side includes interface applications that can represent a standard Web browser (eg. Firefox), and server side includes a web server. The ongoing implementation of the system is organized including KnowledgeTree client/server platform. This system software support includes modules which are needed for the patenting process and they are available over the internet.
