A "superb" production of Bernd Alois Zimmermann's four-act opera "The Soldiers," which was presented in November 2010 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, under the direction of Willy Decker, with music performed by the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, conducted by Hartmut Haenchen, is reviewed. The opera is based on a five-act play by Jakob Lenz.
