Everyone has characteristics that decrease (eg dark skin colour, female gender) and increase (eg, wealth) their perceived power. Minoritised groups may experience shame and fear stereotyping (eg, stifling self-advocacy against racism to avoid being labelled the angry black woman or playing the race card).
